Nope! Contractually obligated to fight Kov! 3 fight contract! Cleverly in July and Kov in November! The big question will be answered by the end of the year. As far as ATG! If he beats Kov soundly and gets a 3G fight and wins and rules the division for a while with 10+ title defenses maybe!

 

He would get much respect for the Kovalev win and would make him in my eyes a 2 two weight Champion but a proper 2 weight campion.

His record is not good enough to be considered a great yet though.

Froch (Very Good Win)
Kessler (Decent but questionable tactics in the fight)
Dawson (weight drained so always a * over this one)
Kovalev ????

He beats Kovalev and Stephenson that adds some very good wins to there, inactivity and to many tune ups will also hurt his legacy.

 

If Ward beats Kovalev he's a lock for HOF, as well as fighter of the decade and the best boxer since Floyd and Manny broke out. And he'll be still only 32. Greatness awaits, but it is a tough task.

If he beats Kovalev then Stevenson, he is the legit king of two divisions, that's HOF. To be ATG, he'd have to wait until Beterbiev is ready, beat him, dominate any young guns that come up to LHW, he's 33, I think due to his inactivity, he's gonna run out of time.

Ducking Stevenson Bute and Dirrell doesn't help either.

 

If he dares to get into the ring with Kovalev (which I doubt), that would be an end of another big hope for a certain category of fans.

 

I'd like to see Ward fight Stevenson.

That sets up a fight with Kovalev for all the marbles.

If he beats Stevenson AND Kovalev, he's unquestionably #1 P4P.
