I just don't know if Ward can beat him due to his lack of power. He beat Froch and Abraham easily and they both have some power or did have a some power in Abraham's case but they don't throw as many varied punches as Golovkin to keep him honest.

I thought Ward might beat him before this performance. Golovkin kept coming at Murray and didn't let him off the hook. The only thing with Golovkin he does take some punches but has a good chin it seems.

golovkin fights four times a year. ward doesn't even fight. i want to see this fight as much as anyone, but ward will make enough silly demands to make sure it never happens. ppv being one of them, neither is ppv worthy.

It might be because Ward is practically retired. He hasn't exactly been very vocal about fighting Golovkin. If he really wanted to fight Golovkin he could go and watch Golovkin fight and enter the ring to challenge him. Or go to one of his press conferences and ask him for the fight.

He's also in a higher division and even though Golovkin is beating everyone comfortably at 160 there's no real reason as of yet to move up to 168 because he wants to unify the division against Cotto.

The same could be said about Andre Ward and Kovalev. Ward never utters a word about Kovalev. The funny thing is that Ward's weight in the ams was 175.

I think he definitely needs to step up to 168 now as he is clearly too good for MW. 168 brings some potentially exciting fights and may answer some questions. His chin seems to be good and his stamina and mentality seem to be fine. However if he has someone like Froch banging away at him for 12 rounds his stamina and chin would be severely tested in a way they weren't last night against Murray.

I would love to see GGG v Froch or Ward.

Its not like they dont have a chance, especially Ward who has good defence. But one thing is for certain, in order to beat Golovkin you have to go through hell, you have to be active offensively and defensively for every second of every round, constantly throwing punches and using excelent defensive skills to make him miss. You have to show great chin and take punches from him and deliver more of your own. I dont know if Ward wants it even though he took great challanges in his career.

But that ring was so small last night

As much as I like Golovkin (I like Ward and Froch also), I am not convinced that Golovkin will be effective if he were to fight at SMW.
After watching Golovkin, I think he would be given problems at SMW like A Abraham has had since going up. I dont think his power will be quite as effective, although still very good, I think he will be pushed back more making him less effective, I think he is open to combinations on the inside, and I think being pushed back and hit with combinations on the inside, that he would look very ordinary at SMW.
I am not sure that either fight would ever happen as I am not sure that Golovkin really wants them or wants to move up a division (same with Ward or Froch going to LHW), but if they did happen, I feel Froch even at his advanced age would be too strong and that it would be similar to when Froch beat Abraham and that if Ward fought Golovkin, I think Ward would hold and push Golovkin back, landing punches, removing Golovkins power.
I think many fighters are worried about Golovkins power before the fights start, and had Murray not laid on the ropes but pushed Golovkin back with his little combinations, feel it would have been a closer fight, even though I think Golovkin would have still won.
There was a comment made in the studio after the fight which I had thought of, and that was to do with Golovkin hitting from above on the top of the head and maybe another ref would not allow that.
Im really not convinced Golovkin goes to the top at SMW

The Steve Collins comment saying the shot was illegal when it wasn't. It's just sour g****s because british people wanted Murray to beat him obviously.

The shot was like the Rubio shot to the side of the head. He caught him once with it cleanly. I just rewatched it and it wasn't an illegal shot.

Golovkin is a lot more effective than Abraham. Ward's chin is questionable and i don't think he can take a huge shot and leaves his guard down many many times against opponents he knows he's better and quicker than.

Froch's chin is diminishing but it's still tough. He's getting older and i think he's on his way out. I think he's been in many tough fights and i think he gets stopped against Golovkin.

Roberto Duran went to super middleweight to fight Sugar Ray Leonard. Duran was one of the best ever lightweights and to move all the way up to super middleweight was amazing and winning a world title at middleweight was amazing.

Elite fighters go up divisions and try to win titles when the competition dries up in their usual weightclass.

I regard Golovkin as an elite fighter who could win titles at a higher division.

It's not all about his power he's a very skilled boxer with old school traits in the ring which isn't taught anymore in gyms.

And btw Froch is scared of Golovkin. He's even scared of Bernard Hopkins.

Froch is very easy to hit but last night showed the GGG is also very easy to hit. So both men would be tagging each other almost at will which means it would come down to who can take the most and vitally who at 168 hits the hardest

Well they say Golovkin hits like a heavyweight.

Kovalev has sparred with Golovkin and said he could feel his power.

We'll see if Froch ever fights Golovkin then i will make a ban bet or if Ward fights him.

As it might be late 2015 or 2016 until Golovkin fights one or both of them.

There'll always be excuses when he wins like he used illegal shots or the guys he's fighting are bums.

Anyone who thinks Ward has no chance against GGG doesn't know much about boxing I'm afraid.

Yeah that's easy to say because my opinion goes against the considered majority.

You think Ward is unbeatable because he's american and considered an elite fighter. Calzaghe would beat Ward easily, too.

We'll see when they fight because i'll bump this thread. If it happens a year from now or whenever.

    I guarantee he beats Ward.
