What in gods name is going on here? Ward hasn't defended his title in 2 years and 1 week, and is still champion

He hasn't even fought at the weight in over two years ffs. How corrupt are the wba? Even a year ago it looked a bit excessive that he was still champion but now we're wntering year 3 of him being champion without even having to defend his belt

Iv a question for the wba, if Andre ward died tomorrow how many years would it be before your stripped him of his title

His beaten vitali klitschko record of having a title without defending It by almost 8 months already and that was also ridiculius

Ward could break the record for longest reigning champion without ever having to even fight

Just saw Ward already broke that a couple of days ago. Jones went 2 years and 5 days without defending his WBA belt. :good

It does make me wonder why they have been so patient. They mandated Ward/Froch earlier this year because both their Super and regular champion were dormant and so not paying any sanctioning fees.

I guess as long as one of the titles is being defended and generating sanctioning fees they are content. If Wards next fight isn't a defence for the WBA title they may decide to finally strip him but then again a backhander to the right guy or guys might keep them content for a bit longer.

totally agree...coudnt understand them stripping froch.they asked them both to defend and froch makes a offer to ward to come to england and ward said no and then they strip froch.then froch retires and ward fights out of the super middie weight division.that totally bamboozelled me.now ward is stalling on his next fight so that means he wont fight this year which means 2 years and 3 months...but but wait even if he has a fight lined up for next year it wont be until feb/march si it will be 2 years and 6 months.
    Just strip him...

I didn't get why they stripped Froch either. At the time of the 2 Froch was more likely to earn them more being the far bigger draw. Usually if a mandated fight doesn't get made I'd assume the champion is stripped rather than the mandatory and in that scenario would mean Ward being stripped. Also they didn't even allow it to go to purse bids and 3 days later Ward confirmed Smith as an opponent.

I had hoped when Ward signed with Roc Nation he would look to get back quickly to were he was. A win over Froch would have done that, beating the clear number 2 and earning a career high payday was a no brainer for anyone but Ward. I had also hoped he would fight more regularly. 9 months into the year and he has fought once with a TBA on the Cotto/Canelo under card. And they made an offer to Zac Dunn the IBO champ who is 18-0 and fought nobody, so the level of opposition he is aiming for is abysmal.

yup i remembered that, only a few days after and he anounnces a catchweight...duh!!!and dont be so sure about him being on the undercard of the canelo/cotto card his ego is to big for that.Plus it will leave a bad taste in all involved..this is harsh but me thinks he will just be like he was with goosen and play victim.

I hope your wrong and he fights on the undercard of Cotto/Canelo even if it's against a total nobody. He desperately needs the exposure and there will be a big audience tuning in for this fight. But I guess it all comes down to getting an opponent which is probably why it has not been confirmed yet.
