Yup, instead he took the #1 175 guy and KO'd him at 168. Wouldn't have made any difference whatsoever had they fought at 175. To me, that makes him 175 undisputed. I just love how you guys come up with every excuse in the book to hate on Ward. There is not 1 thing any of you can come up with (legitimately) to make a case someone else is #1 p4p. That is what makes these arguments so great.

What does p4p have to do with 175? The guy doesn't fight at LHW, cant be champ at LHW, simple as that. Remember Shaun George demolishing Chris Byrd worse than Wlad? You think that made him #1 contender at HW?

That is a complete lie, Dawson suggested 168 and wanted it at 168. Have a look at the interviews.

I really do not get what activity has to do with ranking unless someone does not fight for years at a time. Under this type of logic if someone fights 12 times a year they should be a lock for p4p.

for someone to say he is straight up trash is plain foolish, the guy won the S6 by easily outclassing everyone he fought. Yes, a win at 175 over dawson would mean a lot more, but it is a win over a p4p fighter and the champ at weightclass above. I do not think that win means as much as one poster on this thread thinks but to simple dismiss it is illogical.

I think the masses have spoken, most have said he is #2 or 1 by far.

He didn't want it at 168, he's not ******ed despite what Floyd Sr says. He was willing to go as low as 168 for that fight, it's not the same. Just like Ward is willing to go down to 160 for Floyd, and Sergio to 154. There's a video of Gary Shaw claiming they asked for 170, but were rejected.

I dont think people know what p4p means. Its not about jumping weightclasses. Its used to say who is the most dominant for their weight an nothing more. Mike tyson was p4p1 two years. Yeah moving up an beating fighters in diff classes can increase your rnk but thats not what it is all about

I think Ward is number one right now. He's fought the best his division has to offer and then some, all while making it look easy. I don't like his style and many other thins about him, but it's silly to pretend he's not doing more than anyone else in boxing.

That is a load of ****, look at Dawson's interview after Hopkins 2. He called out Ward at 168, he said he can make 168 easily. In the lead up to the Ward fight he was talking about how easily he can make the weight.

"Dawson started his campaign for a fight with Ward (25-0) -- a man he said he has wanted to fight for two years.

To potentially speed up the process, Dawson declared he would easily make 168 pounds -- which the Ward camp ultimately held him to.

Pushing for an opponent is one thing, but immediately accepting terms that favor him is something not often seen in today's boxing model. Dawson shrugs at this.

"It's a fight I know I can win," Dawson said. "I have every advantage in that fight. He makes a lot of mistakes, and it's my job to make him pay for those mistakes.

"This doesn't happen enough in boxing. It just so happens that me and Andre Ward are fighting each other, then the week after that you've got [Sergio] Martinez and [Julio Cesar] Chavez Jr. So I think us four fighters are making a statement for boxing. That's two big fights back-to-back."

Dawson, who opened interviews with, "As you can see, I'm looking real slim," said he's on track for an easy cut to 168. He weighed 176 pounds on Wednesday."

Anywhere from #2-4. I can see him behind Donaire and Marquez, but no case for Sergio in my opinion.

Whatever, no boxer will own up to weight problems ahead of the fight, that betrays weakness. Both Dawson and Scully have come out and said the weight drop was detrimental afterwards, but I guess you know better. But here it is from Dawson's own mouth, before the fight, just so you can shut up about it already:

Don't get me wrong, I don't blame Ward for taking it at 175. Dawson ran his mouth and paid for it. But that doesn't make it a great win, and especially doesn't make Ward the LHW champ, which was is my point. Can't believe there's posters wanting to argue this.

Marquez is not number 2. He may have pacmans number but hes struggled with far less opposition and gets hit far too often to be number 2.
