Andre Ward - "Before I retire you'll see me in a heavyweight fight"

You underrate Jones' achievement... If it was that easy, more than one in the last 106 years would have done it. It is even more impressive that Roy possibly did that with a weak jaw....

I am not saying it is impossible for Ward to win a belt at HW, but highly unlikely.. I don't feel like he has the build, and his fighting style wouldn't give him any advantages.

Would Andre Ward have the power to keep a true HW honest? That would be his biggest problem as of now that I can see... His skills can only take him so far, against a much bigger man you would have to hit them hard enough to keep them from bullying you around out of sheer size.

If Billy Conn could do it against Joe Louis, I don't see why Ward can't today.

But heavyweights are alot bigger now Louis would be a CW today, plus Conn lost to Louis both times they fought, put up a good fight though.

 

Ward is doing his homework. After the klit's retire he has a chance of getting a title on skills alone.

 

I would love to see Ward do it. I don't know if he can because he really doesn't have the built for it but we will see.

Ward has absolutely no power though. Roy Jones has power and his punches just bounced of Ruiz' head. I can't see it to be honest. He has the skills but any heavyweight should just be able to walk straight through him.

 

What I mean is I don't see why there should be such an uproar if it ever happens.
