Donaire is a filipino american at best but he says he represents the phillippines and being born and having grown up there to two filipino parents kinda puts the argument to rest, for most people apart from americans who seem desperate to claim him

 

YOu could say he grew up in the US also..As 10 yrs old is pretty young.. Most of what influences your charachter are your pre teen and teen years..

 

Nonito is way more american than , Tszyu and VIc are australian!! Tszyu was raised in the former USSR and learned to box there,going thru all their regimens, he even still has the russian accent(slight Aussie).. Tszyu is as much Aussie as Gamboa is American..

I figure if you were a child when lliving in the US and continued to live here as an adult, your ways become American. Mid to Late teen years and up forget it,your a foreigner.

I can't even under stand Darchinyan half the time although his English is getting better. Tszyu was like you said learnt to Box in Russia so yep Russia get's the credit.I wouldn't be outraged if Donaire carries the American Flag in the ring. If you lived in the US or have even been here it would not be weird at all to see Nonito carrying the American flag in the ring...And its not only Black and Whites
Latinos too,mostly Mex/Amer. In fact im sure there have been more Mex/Amer champs in the last 50 years than even white americans, also more Mex/americans representing the US boxing tean in the Olympics.

exactly. He's constantly fought top fighters in his division and showed more all around skill than any 140 pounder. Also he has the highest ring IQ in the light welterweight division
