Andre Ward: Bute would have to face off with the Super 6 Champion to prove he’s best

I think Ward could lose to Dirrell and still be considered the top dog in the division, assuming he still wins the s6. The publicized rankings might not place him ther though. The reason I think that is because Dirrell would be a better opponent than any Bute has faced. I think that is the chief point here. Not Bute's talent or ability.

The S6 is giving fighters a forum in which to mix it up with a concentration of talent that they usually wouldn't be able, nor probably be advised to do over a short period(relative). There simply isn't the kind of talent left for Bute to face. In the division Not his fault, obviously.

Now if Bute were to fight and beat the likes of Pavlik and Dawson by the time the S6 is concluded, he would have a legit claim. The arguments would simply continue.

I do not agree that Bute has an inherent right to face the S6 winner. He needs to take on some tougher challenges for me to say that. If he does and is still undefeated, I'll say he has earned it.

The point is not only Ward vs Bute.

How can Ward could be the clear number 1 if he loses to Dirrell? What if Dirrell faces Bute after being ejected of the tournament? There is still plenty of time for plenty of things to happen.

I'm just saying that unless Ward wins it all, the picture of the division after the tournament may be not so clear...again.

If the super 6 winner wants a big pay day, he will face Bute or Dawson because they will be the last ones remaining. That being said, rematches can happen too between super six fighters.

I agree with you to a large extent. I didn't say Ward would be clear #1. Id consider him #1 based on the comp he would have faced over the course of the tourney if he wins it, even with a loss to Dirrell. But that's just me. I believe most of the publications would have Bute on top. It would be debatable and in no way a clear picture.

You're right about there being a lot of time for things to srt themselves out. But what else do boxing fans have but time?

I would probably put Ward on top, if he wins the tournament, but not as THE champion if he loses one fight. We agree on pretty much everything finally.

If Dirrel beats Ward, he will have 4 points which means he is in the final 4.

Why you`re so biased? You don`t see that many heer, have the same reasoning?
That BEST is correct but will be FOR GOOD ONLY AND ONLY WITH A VICTORY in that unavoidable match.
And by then your Ward has to win cause Bute will not be stoped until then almost for sure.

No, you are not even funny young man. Don`t you see you present just one sided view. There are people here that are not fans of either and don`t agree with you. You convince noone outside you fighter fans.

Yeah but this true for Rumsfeld italic boy and other Ward young tempered fans.

Watch proffesionals and you`ll see NOONE WILL AGREE THIS.

Or what you`re afraid your boy will lose to Bute and you prepaire his way out of 168 after a probable win of the tourney? Stau cool, Bute
-Ward will happen for sure if the last wins.

And finally, supposing Bute will defeat Ward by SD for example you`ll claim he`s still THE BEST won`t you?

Super Six Champion vs. Bute (assuming he keep winning) is a genuine superfight for boxing fans to enjoy. A must-happen event.

I don't think anyone in their right state of mind would claim that. But Bute has really got no bragging rights. Bika, Andrade and Miranda are very nice fighters to have on your resume, but Kessler is a much bigger name than all those three put together. And Ward beat Kessler up. Convincingly. The winner of the S6 has a bigger claim to be the best SMW than Bute. A much much bigger.

The one thing Bute could do, not to lag behind too much, because he is lagging behind, is either to pick off "the scraps". That's not really bad, since there are good chances that Dirrell won't qualify to the next stage. Or move up.

Bute has impressed me as a boxer puncher more so than as a boxer. People look at AA, but AA is kinda predictable in the way he slowly deconstructs you through the whole fight and opens up to land bombs. With Bute, you really don't know when that left hook is popping. So a big puncher's chance to Bute. But I can't see him outboxing Ward or Dawson.

Great topic for a poll(if it hasn't been done already).

My vote is the super 6 winner has the much larger claim as the best.

I think Bute should have to fight the loser of the final to prove himself. Really, a match of Bute and any of the 6 contestants, except maybe Green, would be great fights, and would prove he belongs.
