I think it'd be a good fight, and a fight that Martinez said he'd take at a catchweight. But let's say your hero loses. There's your built in excuse. You'd ***** like a fairy if Martinez beat Ward at 164, you'd **** on it and say it's not wher Ward is effective at when Martinez hasn't fought above 160 in his life. The man eats to stay at MW and walks around at the catchweight you supposedly want now, but after the fight hindsight would most certainly be a *****.

But what's wrong with fighting a guy who's #1 P4P and fighting in a division Sergio did AND should still be ruling? Your hypocrisy and stupidity know no bounds

This might be the only time we agree. Where were Ward's nuts wen it came time to unify with Bute? I think he left em in his backyard. Sad, cause I liked Ward after his win over Froch. Now he wants a "MW."

I have never liked Ward, but it's too early to hate on him, though. He will take Bute on and probably win.

    Truthfully?

Its not. I have no problem with Ward calling out Martinez.

In fact, I expect fighters to call out the best around them.

The problem is fans like you who start saying that the smaller fighter is ducking the bigger one when its obvious the smaller fighter feels the weight is too much for him.

And people keep talking pac.... when Im pretty sure live on HBO this weekend Martinez pretty much said Pac is too small and that he wants Mayweather.

People bring up Pac to deflect from him calling out mayweather, while still trying to play the card that hes picking on smaller fighters.

Martinez has always been more focused on fighting Mayweather then he has pac.

Pac not fighting Sergio is completely understandable by any reasonable fan.

Mayweather not fighting him, not so much. Considering his next opponent and the most probable opponent after that are at the weight Sergio wants to fight him at.

And heres the other thing with everyone bringing up Ward as the guy in all of this (when its actually just there way of 'checking' Martinez's call out of mayweather, with a bigger guy calling him out and thinking the two situations are comparable)

Mayweather - has called out bigger guys (like oscar at 154) and beaten them
Martinez - has nutted up and fought bigger guys (pavlik at 160) and beaten them
Ward - has never called out the top dogs at light heavy, and never beaten 1.

He gets a pass because its unfinished buisness? lol.... but martinez doesnt get a pass for wanting to stay close to his true division (154) for possible fights with cotto, mayweather and canelo.

Its such a double standard that its laughable really.

Just imo though I suppose. Truth is I like ward a lot, one of my fav fighters to watch these days, and he would completely dominate martinez imo.

He could have just fought Bute instead of turning the fight down resulting in Bute fighting Froch, I mean if froch wins do you want to see that rematch? Also he should Dirrell next then Bute after that then he has beat all the top fighters at 168 lbs then move up.

It isn't really any worse than Martinez calling out Pacquaio but Pacquaio has won a title at 150 lbs and Martinez said he would fight him at that weight, also he is more focused on Floyd who is fine with fighting Cotto,Oscar and likely Alaverz when he becomes a bigger name at 154 lbs.

Nope. I'd respect Mayweather cause Martinez is a 154lber naturally and would legitimately be the most dangerous opponent Floyd could possibly choose. More dangerous than Pac considering his size and speed, his recent win streak and his willingness to drop back to 154 after being at 160 for 2.5 years now.

    I'd have Martinez as a 52 / 48 favorite over Mayweather and a 45 / 55 underdog against Ward.

I don't buy that Martinez is closer to 154 than 160....I also think if Manny is too small, then so is Floyd..since both guys are functionally the same damn size. I'd understand if Floyd was 155 or so on fight night, but he's barely making it to 150. I'll be stunned if he rehydrates to 154+ against Cotto.

His fight night weight going by hbos scales was the same as Ortiz's at 164 lbs against Barker not sure about last night though.

Mayweather is taller, but they weigh the same. Pac's thicker and shoter. Floyd is sleeker and taller. No homo
