Yep but he is a piece of sh1t that got knocked down threw some glitter on him self and rose as a sparkling glittering turd Either way its still sh1t either way you look at it
If he "retires" all he means is he will be doing what Floyd did after the Hatton fight. Fighting once a year and only for big paydays which I don't think he is ever likely to get after his $5 million from the Kovalev fight. I think he is just going to carry on fighting Alexander Brand, Paul Smith, Edwin Rodriguez level of competition. Maybe even give Chad Dawson another chance.
Reading between the lines by hinting at retirement and talking of a rematch having to 'make sense', Ward is trying to secure a bigger pay day than the first fight, and a larger percentage of the purse. He's playing the power game, that's all, and he can - he holds all the aces now....
He knows he lost to kovalev and would lose again, that's the only reason for him to consider retirement as he is contractually obliged to the rematch, his only other option is retire.
As a HUGE Ward fan, **** him. It's clear as day he doesn't want Kov again. That's some real ***** ****.
I think he is testing the water. Trying to gauge if he can carry on with his career without fighting Kovalev again.
This isn't lewis vs klitchko 2.0. Lewis was pushing 40, an atg heavyweight, had an atg career spanning two decades, and he stopped the younger, fresher klitchko by tearing off half of his face. If the fight would have carried on it is likely klitchko would have had some career ending damage. No body really cares about ward. He is a prima donna and thinks he deserves more than his worth. He hasn't really proven himself and won't really be remembered 10 years from now unless he does some big things from now on.
There's probably not a lot of money in a rematch. HBO might have to do away with PPV. Boxing just isn't a PPV sport in the post Mayweather era. Sucks for Kovalev but he had his opportunity and he blew it by fighting like a timid mouse against the home town Olympic hero.. He should have lived up to his promises of bashing his shoulder in , street fighting him etc etc He's the Krusher , not the Mouser.
Sucks for Kovalev that he may not get a chance to set the record straight in a rematch but boxing is a dangerous sport and if Ward doesn't feel he's up to it anymore he should probably call it a day.
