Yeah only he wouldn't have planned on several lawsuits and inactivity in between then

Whatever he does he needs to let the boxing world know sometime next year,if he does retire Kovalev will have the chance of hunting down the belts again I guess?

True. But Froch was well beaten by Ward to be fair, that was Ward's best performance.

I agree that Ward is boring to watch most of the time, and you can certainly criticize his trash-talking, lawsuits, and questionable in-fight tactics, but behind it all he is actually a very good fighter.

I honestly saw this coming. That when/if he beat Kovalev, he'd believe he's too good to fight anyone.

The way I see it Kiwi is Yes Ward is a very talented boxer worthy of being HOF caliber BUT In my opinion he has not used those talents to the best of his ability. He's spent more time outside the ring than in it. To me a HOF fighter needs talent, courage & cojones of a champion Ward hasn't shown me that
People claim I hate Floyd Mayweather jr but to me he is similar. He had incredible natural boxing talent.
Talent worthy of an ATG one of the best ever But for me he never made full use of it. He ducked dangerous opponents & garnered unfair advantages over many he did fight. Then with the IV gate cloud of suspicion . never explained, hanging over him ,I cannot warrant him being real HOF
Just my own personal opinion here for what its worth everyone has an opinion :)

Oh I dunno CJ I think Floyd despite what you mentioned still gets most folks votes, what he did to Canelo was highly impressive

Last I heard from Ward was that he maybe would do a RJJ and get a shot at a HW belt.

Now, after winning a, by many, controversial fight against the LHW champion in a fight which he already signed the rematch clause, it doesn't make sense?

Sense to honor the contract he signed, sense to prove to all the fans that he really is the better boxer? I hope this is the last I hear from him.

Canelo?? How good really is Canelo ?? Floyd beat him agreed made him look robotic in fact. but Canelo also was very fortunate to get decisions over Lara & Trout . I thought he lost both personally & so do a lot more people in boxing. After his ludicrous actions concerning GGG , his macho talk then coward like handing over the WBC belt even turned his own Mexican fans against him

Ward gonna Ward. Would not be surprised in the least if he didn't rematch Kovalev. At least we won't have to watch any more of his chitty fights though so there's a silver lining to it.

Then we would hopefully get Kovalev-Stevenson and Kovalev-Beterviev. I'd much rather see those fights than Kovalev-Ward 2 anyways.

I agree with this, I'm not that bothered if he does retire. The fight between Ward Vs Kovalev was nothing special anyway. I would expect more of the same in a rematch. Ward is an ugly fighter to watch with the odd flash of brilliance
