Yep. And at least with Kovalev-Betervbiev and Kovalev-Stevenson there's genuine bad blood and a much greater chance of someone getting KTFO, which, after all, isn't that what boxing is all about? If I'm Kovalev, I'm not even going to waste much energy on chasing Ward for a rematch because he'll probably have to concede quite a bit just to get it and he could very well end up on the wrong side of the decision in a rematch, too. Psychologically, Kovalev could end up damaged if he loses to Ward twice.

He doesnt believe hes too good, he believes that Kovalev outclassed him and he lucked out with a home town gift decision from the judges. I dont blame him, Kovalev is another beast altogether.

I don't agree. I didn't see any gift decision or outclassing from Kovalev.

When Tyson fury actually retired I didn't see the same outrage from the crowd that seems to have an axe to grind over ward

Yeah I'd like to what the truth is with Canelo,is he a monstrous power puncher or did Mayweather think he had nothing to fear from him, weve seen Canelo KO guys like Kirkland and Khan but what's he like against someone his own size and will we ever find that out?

You guys didn't want to see the rematch anyway. There's so much whining now, I can only imagine what would happen when Ward wins again. First fight was close but I think Ward wins wide in the second. It's Kov who has to prove he can make adjustments. Ward proved he can adjust after a disastrous start. Kov just proved he doesn't have much game when he starts to gas. He fought Ward like he was 50 year old Hopkins in the second half of that fight.

The rematch should in theory favour Ward, but we still want to see it!

I had Kovalev winning close the first time round for what it's worth.

Kovalev might lose faith in the judges and start to go all out in trying to knock out his opponents which may end up in him getting knocked the Fock out by a potent puncher. Those judges need to be run over by a tractor trailer for screwing Kovalev over.

Honestly, I think his body is fading and fading relatively quickly, as I mentioned earlier. Some poster took issue with me, but they missed the point. Sure, Ward has fought for 12 years but he also only has fought 31 times and he's 32 years old and looks on the downside already.

Ward has some real physical limits. He doesn't punch with power, he has a fairly short reach and he doesn't have a great chin. His mauling style requires a huge amount of energy output, and he relies heavily on speed and reflexes for his success. It stands to reason that he will fade out faster than, say, someone who is a pure puncher who doesn't need blazing speed to win.

We all know that some boxers fade faster than others, given styles and physical abilities. Pacquiao faded faster than Mayweather. George Foreman lasted forever because his power and chin stood up over time. Holyfield fought for a very, very long time.

I don't think Ward will be around a lot longer. I think there were signs of slippage in the tune-up fights before Kovalev and I think there were signs in the Kovalev fight itself.

In fact, my guess is that had Ward not taken as much time off as he has over the length of his career, he'd already be out of the sport.

Ward's style is not meant to last over the long haul of aging. Some guys with a similar style can last, like Hopkins. But Hopkins was unbelievably disciplined in his diet/training, he had more power than Ward and he had a better chin than Ward.

I'm not sure if Ward will rematch Kovalev or not, but either way I don't think he'll be fighting for much longer. And if he does, then my guess is he'll end up with an outcome he'll regret.
