    But he is no more proven as a professional boxer. He's fought nobody (as people keep pointing out) and he's not even a SMW.

    Being huge does not make you more proven. He also used to be a MW so how big is he naturally anyway?
    Chavez might not have been put on ***** street by a limited plodder but he himself is a limited plodder and is inferior to Bute in speed and skill. Has Chavez Jr even proven he's better at 168 than Andrade (who Bute KO'd) was?

    He still was less proven and ranked lower than Bute.

    Neither are GGG or Chavez Jr and neither was Ward prior to fighting Kessler, which was my point.

    Point is, Ward said Bute wasn't proven enough to fight him, yet Ward himself got a fight with the #1 ranked SMW when he was even more unproven.

    bute had a false rep built up from fighting b-graders while the super six tourney was happening
    he had one hurdle to get to ward, and froch closed it down fast

    I'm sure you can still see the irony though. Ward is a great boxer but he talks some hypocritical, contradictory nonsense sometimes.
