I agree with this . . . to an extent. The most avoided man in boxing has successfully promoted fighters in past. GGG's team supposedly say everyone north and south of him are avoiding him. The problem is when someone calls out and you avoid the call it looks terrible. I think GGG is the goods but he should avoid Ward at all cost. the truth is, as always, its all about money. Ward wants GGG because it is more money than stevenson and far more money than Kov. GGG wants JCCjr because it is far more money that Ward. i think Ward at one time said he could beat Wlad . . . he would probably take that fight . . . because of MONEY.
If Ward wants to have another big fight in his career rather than snooze fests against the likes of Rodriguez, he needs to do some or all of the following things: 1. Take the test. 2. Leave Jokeland 3. Change weight classes 4. Accept that he's not always the A-side of negotiations. 5. Develop a personality.
Same reason he didn't go to Europe, same reason he brought Dawson to 168. Ward, has said multiple times he was moving the light heavyweight, now all of sudden he does not want to? He won the gold medal at what weight?
At the super middleweight... yes, the weight class is called light-heavy, but in amateur that's the super-middleweight equivalent. Ward is talking up a potential fight with GGG because he has decided not to move up in weight yet. He has positioned himself as an undefeated, top p4p fighter, and the best super-middleweight in the world. If you even mention his division, you'll have his attention. Being #1 there is all he has. People will always criticize his style and decisions, but as long as he keeps winning, he'll have the last laugh, hence, the reason he will never take any unnecessary risks like going up to 175lbs and ending up one or two weight classes higher than his most lucrative potential opponents (like Maravilla did when he was calling out PBF and the Pacman).
Now. As in, in hindsight. At the time, Ward had done jack **** to deserve "Super Six" status i.e. top 6 @ SMW. Goossen got him there. Bute had several more names than Miranda on his record when he faced Froch (and would have been available to fight Ward who thought he had "to beat somebody"). The last laugh? Is he laughing right now? He's in for months of hell battling Goossen in California Superior Court, he might not even fight in 2014. On top of that, his style is not fan-pleasing which is why Kovalev and Golovkin, who aren't top 10 P4P like Ward is, get similar or better ratings. Soon enough that will be reflected in his purses, he might have trouble cracking PPV headliner status because of his style alone. You'd ask him right now, he'd probably be irritated at the idea of being Golovkin's B-side - a realistic thought for 2015 if Golovkin wins a couple of fights in spectacular fashion in 2014 and if Ward stays irrelevant i.e. can't get Goossen to forgive the fact he's suing him and get Ward a fight.
