    Had he honestly beat Kovalev, Gvozdyk, Bivol, and Beterbiev.

    But of course he retired to swerve the latter three after robbing Vodkalev.

    When Andre Ward retired none of those guys would have done anything for his resume.. Kovalev was the unified champ with 3 belts and Stevenson had the WBC. Had he beaten any one of them he would have been called a cherry picker.. Can’t criticize a guys who cleaned out a division then moved up and faced the unified champion

    Ward would probably lose all except Kovalev. I would like to see him fight in close quarters with Beterbiev.
    Ward is smart enough to leave town before Beterbiev showed up.

    Malignaggi could have been the goat also but he wasn’t good enough, same as son of low blows Ward.

    What if’s mean nothing, Ward couldn’t even beat Kovalev when they were both Prime.

    He didnt clean out his division, Him & Bute were the number 1 & 2 Ring ranked SMWs for about 3/4 years .. they never fought. Bute should have been in that tournament. Yes he beat Froch who dragged Bute away from Canada in 2012 but for a period Bute was considered the best boxer in the division barring Ward.. he took a shellacking from a Froch with a major point to prove roared on by his home town fans & never kooked the same again .. in fact Carls battering of Bute doesn't really get the credit it deserves because the Canadian was an excellent fighter and an awkward customer as well.. tall athletic hard hitting southpaw who could mix it up well to both head and body.. watch the bika fight for example he probably beat him the cleanest out of all 3 of the top SMW names who fought him.. pumelled Miranda etc too... Bika & Miranda both had a better time with Ward, was Froch who Ward soundly beat obviously but Froch' style was tailor made for Ward.. the Calzaghes & Butes types would have been more difficult for him .. anyway , whether you think ward would have beaten him or not doesn't really matter , the fact is for a time he was the guy people wanted to see Ward fight ..

    He couldn't afford the refs and judges. Ward won by corruption several times. That is not GOAT material.

    He shouldn't even be having this conversation kovalev beat him convincingly.
    Then he had to low blow him to beat the drunk version of kovalev in the rematch.
