Do you agree with Ward’s take with how Tank is managing his boxing career? Are fans being overly critical on Tank? Gervonta Davis has every right to do as he pleases with himself if it means just making money and ensuring a stable life financially. That being said the fans also have a right to criticize him for not making legacy defining fights IMO.

I see where Ward is coming from but I don't agree

Ward also fought the best guys of his division minus the Bute fight which was the obvious fight to make after the Super 6 and regardless of what you thought of the Kovalev fights, he went up and fought him

I think it is perfectly fair to criticize Davis for not taking bigger fights like Shakur, Teo, Haney. I mean he did fight Garcia which was a big fight at the time

Tank can do whatever he wants with his career.

He just shouldn't expect adoration from fans if he doesn't give the fans the high quality fights they want.

Nearly every fighter receives criticism at one point or another for not fighting the best. Why should Tank be exempted?

It's an interesting observation. Personally, I support Davis' right to do whatever the **** he wants to do with his career and the fans right to criticize him for it

I don't think there has been a more dislikable character in boxing than Ward.

Ugly in style and personality is S.O.B.

Ward is unlikeable and playing games here. Tank is obviously also unlikable.

It seem to be a US thing that you can excuse anything with 'did it because it makes the most money'. It's more in focus than elsewhere.

But it's an even more recent thing to try to keep people from criticizing. Is andre ward trying to get in Tank's good graces? Or in turki's? Makes sense for it to be part of the davis-paul promotion...

He is making an argument for fans not to be able to criticize him because he hasn't claimed to want what they want from him.

It's totally irrelevant what he claims. Fans (of boxing) are pissed that he is not living up to his potential at all. Criticizm is due here.

Also he and his promotion claimed frequently enough that he is 'the face of boxing' and similar hype bs. That alone get's you criticizm when you fight smaller leo santa cruz or have to weight clause drain and camp-mole >>ryan garcia<< (as if he was an opponent where the face of boxing should need to do that) and have wba's mickey mouse belt without ever challenging for more.

He is a good fighter but managed as a con job and I am glad for everyone complaining about it!

“But in terms of resume, there’s a little website called Box Rec. You can look at the opponents he (Clenelo) fought but when did he fight that name? he 32. He coming off two losses. He 35. Kovalev when he fought Kovalev he was cooked.

“He was undefeated he has lost that. So he lose me when he starts saying he the best in the world. Canelo is a really good fighter but you don’t know how good you are until you fight the best.”

Tank avoided his top peers virtually throughout his entire career. As fans, we have expectations of our fighters. First and foremost, it's NOT "I hope my fave boxer makes a ton of money fighter lesser opponents."

It's called Prize Fighting. If a guy can fight only Uber drivers and plumbers and make a living than God bless him.

Just don't call yourself "the face of boxing" if you avoid any challenges.

    Put differently:
It's fine if you act like Jake Paul, but don't complain when boxing fans trash you.

Gervonta Davis' answer: "boxing is trash I am leaving" and "xy is trash for selling out"

Then he goes on to fight Jake Paul

Ward is right about Davis career intentions. He's always been about the money and keeping the train rolling.

Yep and lets not forget that Ward has been working as a pundit for Netflix boxing so I dare say he wants to stay in their good graces to keep checks coming in.

Tank is going up in weight. He can beat Jake Paul.

If I remember correctly, Ward wasn’t happy with GGG not going up in weight to face him so he retired.

but Ward did want to come out of retirement to face Jake Paul.
