The "financial security" line is hilarious, really. Tank made $30 million for the Garcia fight alone. He made another $6 million for the Martin fight, which was an awful match-up. He has more money than he could spend in 5 lifetimes.

I'd actually have a lot more respect for him if he just came out and said "I don't think I can beat those guys, and I don't want the work, I'd rather fight B-rate opposition for millions" - we all know that is what he is doing anyway, but if he came out and said it I think people would appreciate the honesty.

He thinks he is immune to criticism when he has taken the sport for a ride for about a decade. Hopefully the Paul circus exhibition is the last time we see him in the ring. If Inoue were operating like Tank, Ward would be scalding him.

Just another reason why I dislike Andre Ward.

Part of me does see what Ward is trying to say about fans criticisms towards certain fighters. It's easy for us to criticize a fighter when we aren't the ones getting punches in the face for a living and aren't risking our health. Everyone has a right to look out for themselves if it means being financial secured and taking the least amount of physical punishment. At the end of the day it's Tanks choice on how he manages his own career. But as most have already said just don't go out proclaiming yourself as "the face of boxing", making yourself out to be something that you're not, and trashing other fighters for actually trying to fight the best to improve their legacy. Tank is only in it for the money and that's ok but he should never be compared to other great fighters if he isn't going to take risk fighting the best. He can take easy money if he wants but he's gonna have to suck up to taking criticisms from both boxing fans, experts, and actual fighters.

In my opinion Gervonta can do whatever he wants, his life and career are his own. As a boxing fan, I regret not having seen him against Lomachenko and Stevenson (mainly these two, but not only). Obviously, if you don't face the best your legacy suffers, if that doesn't matter to him that's fine.

Boxing is exploitative. The fans want to see the fighters fight the best (and not when its too late) and leave it all in the ring. That's what any boxing purist wants. If people have a problem with this, then you should argue for the sport to be banned.

From a moral perspective, boxing should be illegal anyways, but I will continue to watch as long as its legal.

Gervonta has the right to do whatever he pleases with his career, but neither he nor his fans can then call him great, because based on evidence, he is far from great.

    Ward is projecting alot

He could have made so much money money and had a better legacy but his ego made him think he was some type of Oracle savant type of figure so he retired in the middle of his prime instead.
