He's not avoiding the rematch in any way and will do it. He is just trying to make clear that he'll make decisions on his own terms and is not allowing the public or anyone else to have that control to dictate terms.

Face the facts. All the whining and gnashing of teeth will not change the reality that Andre Ward beat Kovalev and took his LHW belts.
In the end, the official anounced, "and the NEW, light heavyweight champion of the world, Andre Ward".
Ward left the Super MW division to conquer the Krusher at LHW, and that's exactly what he did. He crushed the Krusher's dreams.

The rematch terms were not negotiated in the original contract. Just that the rematch has to take place.

The remuneration is in there. He's trying to renegotiate things as though he never signed a contract.

Let him retire. He won't be missed.

In the rematch Kovalev will hire a private security force to keep Ward from mugging him like in the first match.
In the rematch Kovalev wants a bigger ring, bigger gloves and looser ropes.

People said the same about Floyd after he beat Hatton. Remember?

He's your typical American Great awesome talker

Didnt watch the whole video but hope one of the marks asked him if he would take a fight with Beterbiev

Im sure he'd eloquently say "of course"

Then im sure he'd run like hell

Who has this nobody Beterbiev beaten to deserve a shot at the #1 P4P LHW unified champion, Andre Ward?
    Nobody!
    Nobody has fought nobody.

If that's the case (and I believe you're right, FWIW), perhaps the hold up is actually coming from Roc, and not Andre.

I find it hard to believe Andre would've signed a contract where Roc pays him $5 mil minimum for the first fight without asking for at least that much in the rematch (particularly if he won). What I think is happening is that Roc has backed themselves into a probable (significant) loss, and they're reluctant to pull the trigger on the rematch because of it. These were supposed to be cash-in fights for them, not money-losing brand-builders.

Follow the $$$. If Roc asked him to renegotiate and take a pay cut or restructuring? To me, that would explain everything relating to his sour attitude towards the rematch.

Great post. I never thought of that.

But if that's the case why is Ward not saying anything?

I've never understood the hatred that Ward gets, he's always come across as a decent guy to me. He seems like a pretty smart guy too

If you listen carefully, you can hear Hunter's teachings in him, the same as with Floyd Mayweather you can hear his father's ignorance.

Ward will make a great motivational speaker. But at the moment, he's a boxer,
and as a boxer, he motivates a very few people to pay to see him fight.

He'll make more money making movies. He was fine in "Creed".

Maybe. But the blueprint is out on Kovalev. Strong hands, but a weak mind. His fate is sealed.

Kovalev doesn't attract crowds either. I went to his Mohammedi fight bro. It was a ghost town. At least Ward sells out Oakland. If Kov was a star he would have never needed the Ward fight to being with.
