Time we've seen Bute finish strong in the championship frames:

• Glen Johnson (old man, good friend, prone to freezing up and letting guys batter his guard...)

• Magee (after being given a tough experience through nine, with Magee arguably edging three of those rounds...)

• Berrio (found a nice surge of power & output deep into his first world title match, impressive...)

• Bika (made some adjustments near the halfway mark after struggling with the Scorpion's physicality early, managed to outbox him easily and widely out-land Bika in the 2nd half, keeping up a decent work rate while avoiding headbutts & wrestling free of clinches)

Times we've seen him fade to various extents:

• Andrade I (obviously)

• Grachev (the Russian worked him over in the eleventh with body work and kept reopening his nosebleed, though in fairness Bute did have an excellent 12th, due mostly to Grachev punching himself out in the 11th...)

• Mock (caught flush by a number of leaping jabs and short rights from Mock, and reduced to pot shot jabs and sloppy wide left uppercuts on the body in between running and holding)

So, overall, his stamina is okay...but like I said, that one night where Marlon Wright spared him a TKO12 loss is hard to forget. :nono (and worse a display of fading than we have ever seen from JP)

 

Why did Adama get approved for GGG?

Adama had no chance, but he also had fought tougher fighters, including a few ex-world champions, in the weight class he was fighting GGG at.

He wasn't a green prospect being pulled a weight class above.

 

At the end of the day, guys, this Rohan Murdock kid did force Manny Siaca to quit on his stool...just like Mikkel Kessler did. In fact, a round earlier than Kessler did. Ergo he's on a level with Kessler, which means this would be tied for Ward's best win.

Murdock is just too big, and too Australian for glass chin Ward

 

In fairness, guys, there are bigger mismatches out there for Ward than Rohan Murdock.

Rupert Murdoch, for instance.

 

Hopefully not.

I think I read it from the Ring's website. But like you say, nothing has been made official yet. We can only hope.
