It seems that Ward is going thru a lock out stage, probably remnants of his whitelisting during the Goosen lawsuit where promoters and managers locked him out of competition behind the scenes.
Roc Nation is responsible for correcting this, and if they fail, then Ward really has no need of their incapable services and should look for other options.
He can't sit back passively and allow them to whitelist him and ruin his career.

It seemed like they hastily signed him without actually going over the match making. This could be his manager being a hard head and brain washing Andre. I don't know its weird for now it looks like a cash grab.

Ward has never fought in Las Vegas. They have no reason to kiss up to his demands. Maybe they feel it wouldn't look good. What if Ward would come in huge 200 lbs and kills Murdock?

What gets me is this PPV event was announced so long ago that there is no reason why they couldn't have a legit 175 pound fighter ready. This is what baffles me. Ward was signed with Roc Nation before the New Year. So they had from a January 2015 head start to make the magic happen.

And Ward has been silent about it too, he needs to be straight and honest with the public and tell us what his intentions are, whether he was going to stay at smw or move up to lhw. In interviews particuallry with Virgil Hunter their response is Ward will move to up to lhw when he is ready. No one expected it would be their next fight.

Looking at the lhw rankings the only two opponents from what I can tell that are highly ranked and currently vailable are Thomas Oosthuizen and Yunieski Gonzalez. Of course that's if those two decide they want to fight Ward. I think the match against Oosthuizen would be a good fight, even though he is 6'4 he doesn't hit hard.

It's Ward's $2 million minimum that's the hangup. The end result is 85-15, 90-10 caliber splits because nobody wants to foot a $3 million+ bill for his tune-up fights.

At that level, you can only find journeymen or unproven prospects with low ceilings because that small split is still enough to be the best payday they'll get. A fringe contender lacking options could bite.

An actual world caliber fighter? It becomes much tougher because they want a larger % split than 10 or 15%, and that can't happen without more money going to the pot.

If he can't pull off being on that PPV, it's a huge blunder for both Andre and Roc Nation. Cotto doesn't have much time left, and Andre is their only other hope to have a star in their boxing stable. He really can't afford to miss being on a Cotto PPV card.

With how much time went in to planning this card, it's inexcusable that it's come down to the 11th hour like this.

Being that Wilder, Broner and Thurman all refused to negotiate a contract with Roc Nation its possible they jump the gun and over paid Ward without think it thru completely and doing all the correct Math. They may have actually believed some of Ward's own Gospel about being the next Mayweather and PPV cow. :D

Ward never planned on fighting a legit anybody at any weight.
They said the whole time that he is fighting 2 or 3 tune ups.
1 tune up was Paul Smith, 5 months ago.
Another tune up in Nov and probably another one in May or June 2016.
Don't expect Ward to fight anyone good until 5 or 6 months after his first tune up next year.
    Nov or Dec 2016.

Virgil was the one talking about needing one year at 175 before a Kovalev fight. But fighting a Smith and thenaa Murdock isn't the road to get there. Both guys are/were SMW. We really dont need is another fat bum to show up on they Nov21st PPV. But no off season LHW can cut enough weight in 3 weeks to make 175 safely by Nov21st. This very liitle time to prepare is probably one of the reasons the NSAC threw the fight out the window. That's not how pro boxing at the elite level is played in Las Vegas.

Well, that's what you're going to get.
Hunter also said that GGG is no tune up fight for Ward, so that fight was never going to happen either until Ward got these tune ups out of the way.
That is the reality of the situation.

I'd really like to get a few more quotes from the NSAC on why they wouldn't allow this fight. Give us at least 2 sentences worth of some detail. Not just say mismatch. If Murdoch was a LHW would they of allowed it? Was it the time frame because fighters need to go thru pre fight medical tests and stuff like that? With less than a month before the fight Ward could be coming in roided up to the maximum. :D

Oosthuizen was turned down by HBO in the past, a couple times I believe, and that was before his promoter talked trash about him, released him from the deal, and Oosthuizen was said to have gotten out of shape.

That said, being realistic here, I actually like that shout out.
