I agree. And they are in weight classes 8 pounds apart. Actually they are 12 pound apart since Ward's last weigh in was 172.

It's simple....they feel embarrassed about ggg's competition smd they know he's ducking ward....so if they go on the offensive and try to belittle ward it makes them feel better....they hope they can trick someone into believing ggg is actually the more accomplished guy

Nice.....unification fight against a guy who lost to Rubio and alcine.......he could be fighting in Nov for the undisputed heavyweight crown....his opponent still lost to Rubio and alcine

Look, breaking Ward's ***** over his recent tune up is clearly dumb, but breaking Golovkin's ***** over his upcoming PPV unification bout in Madison Square Garden is also dumb.

The "profanity" filter on this forum is ridiculous.

Until he takes back his comment regarding Paul Smith being a B- fighter I can't take any of his posts seriously.

I'd imagine the Kovalev situation really bothers him too. It's a funny situation there.

Ok man.....c+? Is that better........doesn't take away from it being a comeback tuneup fight for ward vs ggg being continually active and still not much better comp than wards last fight .....ward is much more accomplished than ggg.....bringing smith into this accomplishes nothing

Nobody with a brain is suggesting Golovkin has a better resume than Ward, I think the Smith thing is a ridiculous argument because Ward hadn't fought in a long time and has an almost HOF CV anyway. We're saying Golovkin has some decent names on his resume and it's only now people are making noises to fight him, so it's not his fault. The Ward thing, yes their team is hypocritical moaning nobody elite will fight him then backtracking on Ward with weight they suggested they'd make for Froch and Chavez. We all know why though and it's understandable, Ward is harder to beat and carries far less financial reward and would ruin fights like Lemieux and Canelo/Cotto and Chavez Jr because he'd have to rebuild if Ward beats him.

Golovkin is an active fighter, has a PPV unification fight and if he wins gets to unify again in another huge PPV in May. Ward fought 3 times in 4 years against stiffs and is on a waiting list for a TBA on a Mexican vs PR undercard !!!

GGG has been building his brand for 4 years and is on the cusp of being a PPV star and unified champ at 160. Ward failed in building his own brand so decided to sue his promoter out of frustration and became inactive. Its clear as day. I'm not a fan of either guy really.

I think C+ is still be generous but whatever. I actually think Ward is immensely talented so any criticism of him my end is more out of frustration with him wasting his prime rather than defending a guy the division below him.

Do I think GGG wants to fight Ward? Not at this exact moment, no. It'd be a big leap to move up and take on a p4p talent in his first fight at a new weight. I don't think he considers himself a big MW and he was looking to test the water against a far more beatable but still financially lucrative opponent in Froch/Chavez Jr..

Do I think Ward really wants to fight GGG at 168? Maybe, but with his last fight being at 172 against a total no hoper at that weight it's hard to take him too seriously on that. To me, 'chasing' the GGG fight looks little more than a good excuse not to seriously test himself against sharks in the weight class above him. If he were to go an dominate 175 now, that'd be amazing and he has the ability to be in some legendary matches there. The potential for him to achieve true greatness is there, I just wonder how much he's willing to strive to achieve it.

I mean what happened to the guy who thought he could win a HW title?

GGG can't unify because Canelo and Cotto aren't going to fight him also he's only concentrating on unifying the division until he sees a way to fight guys at 168 like JCC Jr or Froch right?:rofl
