    Ward used to control fights by controling the distance, moving in and out constantly. Against Paul Smith he didn't display that strategy. He will have major problems with a world level opponent. George Groves, James Degale and Jack Bardau will get to him.

    I haven't seen the fight and only read comments but going on this very onesided performance with such a layoff, I can't see how you can view that as "losing his ringsmarts".
    If he struggled with Smith, then there's some reason for concern, but one awkward moment against a gatekeeper is nothing to worry about, certainly not in today's SMW division wich is pretty poor compared to when he was still active (S6). It might be an indication that he won't be able to beat the 175 monsters though if he decides to move up. But that was always a big question mark.

    I think we see a very real decline when it comes to Ward. Some of the stuff that has been going on in his career makes it unclear if he's still into boxing, and now he fought a very average opponent without displaying the very impressive ring-IQ he showed against Carl Froch.

    I believe that next time Ward steps into the ring with a good fighter, he will start too look bad.

    You know, if I'm wrong it will show when Ward fight a top tier opponent next time. But I'm not wrong. It doesn't matter if Ward struggled or not (he didn't), it matters that he has lost his edge.

    Only time will tell but I can't see how you come to that conclusion after his long lay ..I mean there is ring rust ..

    You obviously dont know **** about boxing. I mean really ward lost his smarts? :lol::lol:This re****. In this fight Ward won it easily dominating against a c minus fighter in ward first fight back in almost 2 years. In this fight ward was the one that was basically being the aggressor throwing many punches while Smith was mostly covering up. Ward was killing smith with straight rights and left hooks shots which broken smith nose badly. But ward lost his smarts? Why cause smith land a lucky right hand? :lol::lol: Ward clearly didnt lose his smarts at all.

    I didn't think he looked that good either, though he'd been inactive so its understandable. I thought his legs didn't look right and his right hand wasn't on point. The better his opponent though the better he'll look. Like Hopkins againt holmes before tito.

    I'm not talking about the eye catching stuff. Ward was within Smiths reach whenever Smith could be bothered to throw a jab back at him. A guy like Ward isn't supposed to fight like that.
