Andre Ward has lost his smarts. He will struggle with a world level opponent.

Did he have to employ that strategy against Smith though?

    He was in complete control.

There's nothing to suggest he's lost anything at this stage.

He's been very smart, but not in the way that you're thinking.

There's no need for him to move up to LHW at this point.

He didn't really need to try against Smith.

It would be different against a better opponent.

The idea of the fight was, according to Virgil Hunter, to measue Wards ability at this stage. Seems strange for him to take the evening off, given that circumstance.

Exchange "nothing to suggest" with "no proof" and I let is pass :good

No, there's still potentially interesting fights to be made at SMW. I want him to move to LHW when there's nothing left at all at SMW.

He looked totally at ease, and he may have been trying out a few different things.

Let's see what happens in the next six months or so.

He looked excellent. Controlled range, threw combinations and put on a show. It was like watching Roy Jones, he looked faster and more powerful than I remember. Sure the opponent had a bit to do with that but he looked very good.
He's the best, most compete fighter in the sport after Lomachenko. He can do it all, from the inside and outside, attacking or defending.

    Is this thread lost?

Ward easily beats Groves and Degale.

    In fact he embarrasses them.

Coming of a two year layoff, he dominated every round against a guy who was competitive against champion AA.
Smith only landed 47 punches the whole fight, while Ward landed 231.

Yeah my bad but I'm saying this guy is expecting him to be as sharp as he was in his last fight .Its crazy to act like Ward is not allowed to have ring rust .

    Are you dumb?

Smith landed 18% of his punches and landed 47 overall, landed one shot cleanly and stopped Ward for 3 seconds.

Ward looked fine he has been pretty much inactive for about two years. Even still he shut the guy out.
