Incredible that Son of Ottke's team are so worried about a guy Froch just took to school.

 

That the semi fight be in the back yard of the guy with more points after the first round, I have no problem with. But each had to fight outside his hometown during the first round except Ward. And more bizarre is the way they gave the point to Ward in the non fights against Dirrel. When they didnt give the 2 points of Dirrell to Johnson (his replacement). So Ward didnt have to fight Dirrell but got the points for winnig before the Bika fight...

About Bute (he is not in the S6) and guess what, in the Andrade II fight, the bid was won by Golden boy promotion and they decide to make the fight in Bute's backyard. So what's the problem with Bute?

US-thinking - the boxing problem for decades now.

Boxers joins a tournament - a TOURNAMENT...............which in my world means a fair game for every fighter.

1. Ward fights at home and beat Kessler.
2. Ward fights at home and fights a replacement in Green
3. Ward fights at home in tune up fight "and gets 2 points"

Because of all the Wards wins, he deserves to fight the semifinal at home....?

 

Uh what? Johnson replaced Kessler, not Dirrell. The two points thing isn't very significant either; it's not like Ward passed anyone as a result.

 

My bad for the replacement, but whoever he replace, you give points free on a tournament, it's more than weird and by the same logic that give a 4 points figher the home advanage, if he had only 2 points, Abraham would have 3 and so the fight should have been in Germany, see what I mean?

Oh and since Johnson replace Kessler, why he didnt have the 2 points of Kessler? He got 3 points by beating Green by KO!!!

All of the semi-finals were going to take place in the US anyway. I think the location is okay, as I believe Abraham will receive support in Los Angeles anyway. I do however think he and his team are perfectly justified in their complaints about the officials.

As for Johnson not getting Kessler's points, I believe this was simply a rule agreed to at the start of the tournament. If Taylor for instance had received any points before dropping out, I imagine Green likewise would have had to start from scratch.

 

I know Andre personally and I've done business with Andre. I've also done business with several other fighters and interviewed probably 50. Andre Ward is one of the classiest, most down to earth fighters I have encountered. Even more importantly, Andre Ward has nothing to do with appointing judges, refs, dictating where the fight is, etc. And he will be extremely disappointed if Abraham doesn't show. He just wants to fight the guy, he knows he will win, and most likely, win easily. I think it will be a good fight. I like Abraham. I think this is a tough matchup for Andre. I want to see it happen.

 

If we're going to be critical, let's be objective. Abraham has had 30 of his 34 fights in Germany. Andre has had 17 of his 23 in California. Both guys obviously fight at home alot for one reason, they draw fans at home. That is the main reason their promoters both insist on them fighting at home. And while we're on the topic, the last time Andre fought in Europe, he won the Gold Medal at Light Heavyweight. So he apparently travels just fine.

 

Unfortunately, we are talking about the professional ranks, here. Moreover, we're talking about an INTERNATIONAL tournament. Andre Ward's amateur career ended over 7 years ago. Meanwhile, Abraham and the other members of this tournament have all traveled to their competitors' home turf to fight. To even attempt any legitimacy in not fighting abroad under these conditions is a JOKE.
