I'd say you would get great odds on that. He won't fight anyone with a pulse

I can already see it now

Ward ' what do you mean I aint getting 10 million to fight kovalev, I got 2 million for fighting smith!'

ROC nation ' yes Andre but we lost 8 million on that show as no one tuned in and we had to sell tickets for free. The most we can offer for the kovalev is 5 million and sergey has offered to only take 3 million to make the fight happen'

Ward ' awh hell no. Virgil Virgil, there trying to ****ing rob me again. Get our lawyers we ain't getting screwed like this again'

Ward will have to accept a low offer because I doubt his camp will be able, or willing, to send a large offer to someone else.

    Smith < Kovalev = $2 < $??

Purse must be much greater than $2 mill, and considering Kovalev's recent purses have been less than ONE million, I doubt the fight gets made unless Kovalev receives the lower share.

Some people say that both Ward and Kovalev signed a contract with HBO that after June 2016 they can't fight anybody else but each other.

To me, it means that Ward will fight once before June, get his 2-3 mil and then get injured or start a law suit.

And there's where to problem lies kovalev deserves the bigger sahre and ward the smaller share if everything was fair . but ward wants everything his way and that's why his career has gone to hell

Well considering he's being paid more to fight lesser opponents than Kovalev, blame the system not Ward. He can ask for whatever he wants, the fact that he's actually receiving it isn't his problem. He made $2 million to fight Smith, correct? Kovalev made $750k to fight Pascal and about $500-700k for Mohammadi (or whatever). So I agree that Kovalev should receive the higher purse, it's a matter of opinion, but do you really believe that'll happen? That the fight will get made and Kovalev will receive more? I think that'll be the road block and people will blame Ward, but you really can't blame him IF the scenario I laid out comes true.

You can blame him because the reason his career has stalled is because he wants more than his worth. He got 2 million to fight smith because roc nation are idiots and are paying him ten times more than his worth and losing money on his fights. Kovalwv is underpaid in my opinion

But ward can't get good opponents right now becisde he wants his 2 million paydays and roc nation have no money left over to pay mdpe than 250k to his opponents

He won't fight kovlaev because he will have ridiculous demands

Looking at recent form once would be the most probable number of fights he has next year.

But I will be optimistic and say he fights twice or more. He's already making approaches to other fighters to set up his next fight which was better than he was doing earlier this year, where he seemed quite happy to waste months doing literally nothing other than alienate fans and then try and set up fights when forced to.

He wasted 3 months after signing with Roc Nation and only seemed to do anything when the WBA named Froch his mandatory and once he fought Smith it was another 4 months or so before we heard anything about his next possible fight. So at least he's now showing some kind of activity rather than sitting around for months doing nothing.

He didn't pay himself $2m, dude. Roc Nation is enabling him. You wouldn't accept less than Sergey if you were Ward in 2016.

Yes roc nation is feeding him but when it comes to contrwcts and how the money is split duva will more than likely take home a bit more or it will be 50-50. HBO aren't going to subsidies ward ridiculous demands. Roc nation had too. And if roc nation suddenly decide they don't like losing money on ward anymore then ward will take legal action

Ward can fight on anyone's undercard on HBO but I think his ego is too big for that. If he had a fight lined up for Jan or Feb it would already be announced.

I think the earliest HBO can pencil him in to headline his own card would be March, in Oakland of course.
