Technically he could already be picked apart resume wise Froch - Regarded by many as a good but not great fighter and then some regard him as a eurobum, caveman ect Kessler - People regard him the same as Froch genrally Dawson - was weight drained Then we look at the possible/almost fights Dirrell- refused to fight each other due to friendship Hopkins- refused to ever fight due to respect Bute - refused to fight as he found him unworthy Stevenson - Same as Bute ect ect You look at it objectively and you have to either give much more credit to Froch or admit his resume is weak and not deserving of the P4P2 title
Oh i agree if you wanted to you could make anyone seem good or bad. I personally thin k he is as skilled as people claim but then i also think Froch is much better than people realise and thus a great win on Wards resume. I just like to try look at everything objectively so im trying to envision what might result from him not fighting big names
Euro fighters do indeed make good money, I never said otherwise. But making it in America increases their income and general recognition. There's no denying that and the proof is out there regarding every foreign fighter you and I came to finally recognize and cheer for. Froch will be demanding everything he possibly can due to his recent popularity and ever increasing fan base. That's how the business side of the sport works. If you make it this far to be generally recognized and appreciated by the public you will end up making the demands. The unknown fighter on the other wise, regardless of resume, can do nothing but accept or move on to other unheard of fights(which is sadly Ward's position).
Big Ward fun but he's starting to sound a lot like Pacquiao. He calls out guys and he expects them to come to him. He does all his talking to the public. You're not the A side Ward which is the sad reality. Swallow your pride, accept less and beat the F out of these guys. A couple $mil is better than $0.
Ward also fought the best available and Froch was one of them, remember?. Beating the "best available" means jack**** if you don't have the proper management and promotion to make the public recognize it. Remember when Tim Witherspoon carried his title to England and handed Bruno his very first loss by stoppage there?, remember when Paul Williams beat Concreto who was being hailed as "this era's Hagler and most feared beast boxing has ever known"?, remember when Ward beat Kessler and Froch?, remember when Rigondeaux beat Donaire?, remember when Raheem beat Morales?....etc. Surely you do also remember how Bruno went on to bigger things while Witherspoon was forgotten and generally ignored. Remember when Concreto went on to get a major payday against Cotto while Williams was left in the shadows and ignored?. Remember when Kessler and Froch moved on to bigger things while Ward was left ignored?. Remember when Morales moved on to bigger things all the way to 2012 which involves two fights/paydays with Pacquiao, a fight with Maidana and also won the WBC title at 147 while Raheem was quickly forgotten and ignored?. Have fun.
golovkin isn't willing to move up to 168 for ward. chavez is there...but it makes more sense that he fight froch first because that's a more winnable fight for him. both chavez and froch know they lose to ward. kovalev isn't coming down to 168 to fight ward...nor should he have to. stevenson was at 68 and moved up to 75...he could have fought ward...but he knows what will happen. as for his issues with his promoter...they are what they are...a hinderance to progress. it's unfortunate. the funny thing is that wards situation was just like guerreros for the most part....and the california commission let him part ways with goosen. this time they are ruling in favor of goosen going against the law of california. this thing has to be settle in court. ward has said that he's willing to fight but that goosen is not bringing him anything. goosen is a used car salesman....a regional promoter. fcuk 'em. ward will be free soon.
Ward is clearly the best fighter at 168 but the other guys there can make just as much money, and have more compelling fights, against each other. Unfortunately for Ward, being the best doesn't always put you in the drivers seat in boxing. He's already stated he won't go up to 175 to fight Kovalev and if he's going to sit by the phone waiting for the other top guys to call, he could see some of his prime waste away while he's sitting on the sidelines.
Two clear samples Rigo and Lara put tremendous pressure to land their fights, Ward must be more proactive with his strategy to attract good fights he missed a good opportunity not going to London to see Carl Froach please put yourself in the window with a big banner "Boxers Wanted any 168 pounder" and stop blaming the rest.
only if that road is some forgotten alley in Oakland, CA. The world has moved on. We like to watch exciting fights between willing opponents.
