I don't rate Canelo nearly as high as Kovalev. Especially 152 Canelo. Not even close. But other than that I agree with the rest of your post except for I rate Ward higher than Floyd.

Ward didn't climb as many weight classes. Nor did he have close to the longevity. But he never shied away from fighting the best.

DLH and Mosley when they were younger. And before you say different weight classes remember that Mosley jumped from 135 to 147 to fight DLH. And that Duran did the same to fight Leonard.

    It could have been done.

All the arguments you make are valid, but i would point out Mayweather's been fighting top level fighters for 20 years.
People talk about Mayweather like his career started in 2007, but he was already on the downside of prime at that time.
He had very good wins against Genaro Hernandez, a well respected champion, and Angel Manfredy back in the 90s. He opened the 2000s dominating a very good version of Chico Corrales, beat JC Castillo in a shutout (at least in their rematch), shutout Jesus Chavez who was a very good fighter of his day....
He also beat Zab Judah in a tough fight, and destroyed Arturo Gatti (who was a champion on one of his better streaks at the time)....
And let's not forget that Hatton was in his 20s when they fought, and you also conveniently left Canelo off your list of his best opponents, canelo being 10+ years younger than Floyd when they fought, a bigger, younger, stronger opponent at a higher weight.

And don't say Canelo was inexperienced back then. The guy had close to 45 pro fights already (about as many as Mayweather had) and was a world champion with six defenses under his belt already. I never bought that excuse for a minute

That's one thing Ward never did, move up in weight and fight a bigger stronger, young gun and take him to school

None of those guys wanted anything to do with PBF. PBF wanted them they ignored him. He was seen as too high risk too low reward back then.

Yes, I actually enjoyed Mayweather fights from 1999-2007 and I would definitely prefer to watch him fight rather than Ward. As you said he fought a lot of very good fighters then. He did later fight 4 great fighters after his first retirement, but they were all over the hill. If Mayweather would just stop talking out of his ass, and actually fight like he did way back in the day I'd have been a fan.

For whatever reason, he took his foot off the pedal starting in 2009 and become Money May.

I'm not surprised that Floyd won fighter of the decade because he beat the biggest names of that decade, was the biggest draw and made the most money. But in my opinion he actually had a far better decade in the 2000's yet he was named the fighter of the decade in the 2010's. It's ironic.

What Ward did in the 2010's were clearly better than what Floyd did. As for their careers, it's close, but 2010's? Ward wipes the floor with him.

Oh sure... they should have fought a guy who was still @ 130, what a HUGE win that would have been.

Floyd tried to fight them? How? Calling them out and staying at 130/135!?!

PBF moved up and called them out. Once again you can't handle the truth, they knew how good PBF was but he was seen as too high risk too low reward for them back then. They had bigger names and bigger money fights to take. I don't blame Oscar or Shane for not fighting PBF back then.
