    Floyd's early career is underrated.

Ward's win over Kovalev was better than Floyd's win over Kovalev.

Floyd's early career is definitely underrated by many, but you've exaggerated.

Wards resume is similar to Roy Jones resume. He actually takes criticism the way Jones did. They say their resume is weak.

But then I say well they both fought the guys they were supposed to fight.

James Toney and Kovalev were clearly the guy. As in that was the man they needed to fight. It was obvious and clear as day. It had to be them.

So they fought them. They didnt wait for them to get too old. They didnt duck. They didnt complain about weights. They didnt say A side. They didnt say I want my gloves. They didnt say too much risk and not enough reward.

They just got in the ring.

So in that sense, they dont get enough credit.

Floyds argument is better than Wards. H
Ward fought at LH as an amateur, SMW as a pro and has one win and one gift against a faded champ. He’s a year older than the best at LH, Beterbiev, and he retired rather than defend the belt against a prime challenger. I hope he comes out but suspect he will avoid AB. That would not end well for the FOTD (not my choice for the award but he did win it). I think Canelo would easily beat Ward if he came back at LH as well. You can’t head butt Canelo (as Ward did against Kessler) it intentionally hit below the belt (Kov II) against a star and I think get called. He’d either get a beating, points deducted or get DQd.

Comparing Wards accomplishments to Floyd or even Canelo is laughable. It’s not even close. He won the super 6 and beat a faded, washed up Kov. That’s it.

I don’t disagree. I was just pointing out that It’s comparable, and the fact that Floyd has 15 or so wins that are comparable to Ward’s best shows how ridicuolus it is to claim he’s the greater of the two.

Honestly I like Ward much better than FMJ, and his career can be compared to first part of Floyd’s at 130&135. The comparison ends there.

There is zero argument to rank Floyd anywhere near being the best WW or JMW. So that was a gross exaggeration.

I never said that Andre had an argument for being the best LHW. He does have an argument for being one of the best ever SMW's though.

    I hope he comes back.

I'd take the versions of Ward that beat Kovalev, over the current version of Canelo.

We're not just comparing Ward's achievements with Floyd's. We're not comparing stats, we're looking at many different factors.

How on earth did Ward beat a washed up Kovalev?

    What are you talking about?

Canelo is the one who's just beaten a washed up version of Kovalev.

I get your point and I respect it. But Floyd doesn't have 15 wins that compare to Ward's win over Kovalev. That's a gross exaggeration.

Dude i like Kovalev but he just got knocked out by a fighter Mayweather dominated considering the fact that he was higher rated P4P at the time of the fight and still a top3 rated WC I'd say the Pacquaio win is a bigger win than Kovalev.
Mayweather dominated a completely different level of comp than Ward.
Hell people citing the Kovalev fight both were more controversial than Maidana or Castillo I, in just this decade alone Mayweather has beaten 3 P4P mutlidivisional Champ.. Ward has fought 1 P4P fighter ever

Interesting arguments. I agree that Ward, while not one of the best LHWs of all-time, certainly deserves consideration at SMW.

Personally, I rate Floyd's overall resume ahead of Ward's. Remembering Floyd at 130lbs, I always had the feeling as though I was watching a generational type talent. Ward never really inspired the same sentiment. Hardly scientific, I know, but there you go.

Ward did not do enough to eclipse Floyd in my opinion. Sure, he took on some very formidable opponents, but the quantity is lacking.

In my opinion, Ward is a fighter who was better than he was great. He was nigh unbeatable at his peak in 168, but he simply did not fight enough to carve the legacy Floyd did.

Floyd was the biggest con job EVER in boxing. He owes his $$$ & his "success" to Bob Bennett, the NSAC, USADA & Vegas boxing without them he'd have been USELESS !!!
