It worries me that he's working with Victor Conte.

I'm not going to flat out call him a cheat, but his description of the products he's used, combined with Conte's history and him flat out saying he can beat boxings tests, I am suspicious. I don't like the fact that any athlete is working with such a disgraceful person as Conte, who has brought sport into more disrepute than any person other history. Even though I like Ward and think he is honest when he says he thinks he's clean, I look at the Mosley case and it isn't a big jump to think that Ward is being lied to and though he thinks he is clean, he's taking illegal products and masking drugs.

It's a shame if it is true and if he gets caught, the Super Six, a major step forward in terms of fight negotiation, will be ruined and boxing will take a massive hit.

Ward should drop him and any of these dubious supplements.

Who cares about Conte? The fans have already spoken, the comissions do a good enough job of drug testing. Every fighter should be assumed to be clean until they fail a test according to the fans and many in the boxing media. Given this, I see no reason why Ward should drop Conte.

I do see your point, however, when a proven cheat boasts that he can beat the tests, you have to look at it a different way.

The difference is with Pacquiao/Ariza, is that with those two there is absolutely no reason to be suspicious, whereas Conte has a proven history. In fact, it's the only thing he knows so when a guy like him gets involved again, you have to wonder, just like you wouldn't trust Panama Lewis to train boxers now.

Ward is undefeated and now a world champion!!

Unfortunately Panama Lewis does train boxers now. He's just not allowed back in the corner. He actually was hired to and trained Zab Judah for the Cotto fight.

Why? Ward has never tested positive for anything. If any of Ward's opponents have a problem with it, they should go to the comission and petition them to change the rules. Conte is not the only one who knows how to get around a drug test. There are plenty of other people out there with the same capabilities. People seem to have faith that the comission tests are good enough anyway, so what does it matter? As far as Panama Lewis, he's banned from the sport in the U.S. Conte is not banned from doing what he's doing. He's actually working with the USADA to stop drug cheats and advocates a stronger testing system in boxing. Again, if people have a problem with it, petition for stronger testing or petition for Conte to be banned. As it currently stands, Ward is doing nothing wrong and there is not proof that he's doing anything wrong.

Of course. It is very suspicious and Ward's team should drop that guy. End of story.

But there is a testing system in place. Surely there is a good enough chance that the current system will catch any cheating that it shouldn't matter. Ward has never tested positive for anything.

    Conte is not Ward's coach.

He is the guy that was being BALCO and the steroids scandal that included so many US athletes like Marion Jones, Tim Montgomery and also MLB players, even NFL players.

There were article published recently in wich Conte slams boxing's drugs testings. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/boxing/8485892.stm

All in all, that is pretty suspicious even though it is by no mean a proof that Ward is cheating.

Dude. If your girl tells you that she has made a new friend lately and that he's really nice, funny and he's called Derek Jeter !!! Wouldn't you be worried ?

Of course, all of this does not mean Ward is cheating... but working with a convicted cheat that says drugs teesting in your field are a joke... it's bad press.

But most of the fans and the boxing media seem to think the current testing system is fine. So what should it matter what Conte says? How can anyone be concerned with getting the Victor Conte's of the world out of the sport, if they are happy with the current testing system? It would seem to me that the real problem is that the current testing system is inadequate. There are a bunch of Contes out there who have never been caught. You can get rid of Conte if you want, but there will be another Conte ready to take his place.

With what you say here, it is pretty obvious that Ward should drop Conte. And we don't know **** about the current testing systems effeciency.

... and his name is Ariza. :rofl:rofl:rofl Kidding, but really the testing regime here in boxing shows that that doping is rampant and no one want to do anything serious about it.

How do you figure? Conte said the drug testing system in boxing is so weak that he was able to mix up a cocktail for Mosley without even looking at the banned substance list. Even if he was cheating for Ward(which I highly doubt becuase he did Federal time and the Feds are watching him like a hawk), Ward could easily hire another guy that could allow him get around the current testing system.
