JUST saw Ward vs Froch, I like Wards style, the way the guy works when on the inside Clinch is just incredible, the left hook, the way he holds his left out, its just incredible, He completely neutralized Froch. This guy will be the P4P King once he disposes of Bute, who is also a great champion, and a fellow southpaw. Its Not like the guy holds until the ref breaks them like the Heavyweight Champion does. Ward needs to gtfo off Showtime, and start his run on HBO. Showtime can **** off with their shitty quality cameras. Sorry about the rambling, but lets compliment Ward:blurp
Yeah, I know, People correlate Volume Punching and Power into an exciting fight, but watching a technical fight is also great too!
As opposed to Ward-Green for instance, Ward-Froch was a great fight to watch, I thought. :conf Ward isn't boring. It's fun watching a guy who gets hit very few times, clowning his opponent. As long as it's not exclusively slow paced, cringeworthy wrestling on the inside.
Dirrell is more exciting than all of them. And a better fighter to with the exception of Ward. Dirrell vs Froch was a thriller and so was Dirrell vs Lil Arrrrthur!
He isn't boring in my eyes - boring maybe to a casual fan who wants to see 100000 punches a round etc. Technically, Ward is fantastic and his inside game is superb also.
Andre Ward is a solid boxer. He has beaten some of the top fighters in his division, and deserves to be champion, but he is without a doubt the most BORING boxing champion in the history of boxing. He has no power and never electrifies the live crowds or the viewing audience watching on TV. I can't think of one thing that he does that is spectacular. He is good in all areas, but has nothing special that excites people. Tyson had the aura of invincibility, Duran was simply awesome, had power and a great personality, Sugar Ray Leonard had charisma, blinding speed, power and electrified the crowds, Roy Jones had lightning speed, blinding power and super athletically gifted, Floyd Mayweather has super speed, incredible defense, and knows how to sell himself. Ali was Ali, Manny Pacquiao has brutal power, blinding speed, and is a congressman. How can you top that. Unfortunately, Ward has all the skills, but lacks power. Boxers in his weight class should carry power. He pushes the pace, is very fast, great movement, but is not known for any specific punch that he throws. I like him as a person and fighter, but he won't ever have much of a following until he does something special. He can start by beating Chad Dawson, but I highly doubt he can beat Dawson. Dawson is too big, strong, well conditioned, experienced, a southpaw and carries power. Ward will most likely be remembered some what like Billy Costello. Do any of you remember him? I didn't think so. We will also say the same thing about Ward when he retires.
Ward bores me. There is a reason he's on showtime...cuz he's boring and no one but hardcores want to see his ass. Period. I'm hardcore into boxing, and even I won't watch him unless he's in there with a big time talented boxer. As opposed to say, Floyd, Pac, Canelo or Marquez, whom I can watch regardless of opponent.
And saying "Ward is not boring" as an absolute statement is as ridiculous as saying "Ward is exciting" Did you see the Bika and Green fights?
Boxing fans r the ones who really own the titles, they don't belong to the fighters, these fans keep the business rolling and have the right and the duty to like and dislike whoever. Now, they cannot assure that this indivual Andre Ward is a not A level or else they r not real fans, just people who enjoy pro fighting like wrestling, MMA, UFC, casual fans of boxing and other fight sports. The same goes for Hopkins, Mayweather, Whitaker and the all time greats of the past, Michael Spinks, Larry Holmes, Ali, Benitez, Duran and so on...
