    Why are you clinging to 183 lb number? Can you confirm it? I can't find it anywhere else. I read he weighed in 12 stone 5 lb for Ambler fight.

    Either way Smith is a small SMW, almost a middleweight and you need to deal with it.

    Also, by the way if boxrec was wrong and he weighed 12st 5lbs...That would still be 173...heavier than Ward has ever weighed in his pro career.

    Hes not a "small SMW" ...give it up

    The guys has weighed at SMW or above 32 times!

    It's most likely an error.
    Smith's weights for last 2 fights: 167 and 165.

    This catch weight is a disgrace.

    Why?

    2 SMW are fighting at 172...what difference does it make to either guy?

    Ward has as many fights at MW as Smith does

    That doesnt explain why its a "disgrace"

    Does one guy get an advantage?

    Im sure Smith is perfectly happy not to have to sweat down to below 168 as well. Its not a title fight

    Yes it gives an advantage, sweat down? LOL! He's a small SMW. He sweated down so much, he came in at 165 for Abraham II :lol::lol:

    Ah yes, the "small" SMW, who has weighed over 168 NINE times in his career.

    As opposed to the monstrous Ward, who has fought 6 of his 27 fights at 160....

    If it didn't make any difference Ward wouldn't have requested the CW.

    Ward is a very big SMW whos clearly finding it hard to boil down to 168. Smith looks small and soft at the weight, can probably make 160 easier than Andre can make 168

    Because hes been out of the ring a while, and may be testing the waters , to see if he can do something at 175.

    You really think hes trying to game the system so he can beat Paul Smith?

    What Smith weighed in at is not the point it's about what weight he should be at when in optimum condition and it's always been a widely held opinion among fans and people involved in the sport that he looks flabby and soft at SMW and above and that he should be campaigning down at 160. Like I said in earlier post, this is a criticism that has been leveled at him for a very long time and it has been voiced by many regularly in threads about him.

    Regarding the Ambler fight. Smith took that one at short notice and was not in good shape by all accounts.

    Also it says he weighed in at 12st 5lbs here. I'm not saying he did for sure but Boxrec do get stuff wrong from time to time. Either way, as has been explained he took that fight on short notice and wasn't in good shape according to those posters from the Brit forum.

    I can dig up tons of posts from this and other forums where people have commented that they are of the opinion that Smith should be campaigning at 160. Like I said, it's been a regular topic of discussion in threads about him for a long time. I'm not in the mood to argue about it though so carry on with your business.

    Here he is weighing in against Arthur Abraham and he looks pretty cut...hairyness aside

    Maybe he puts on weight badly after the weigh in, and looks soft?

    I don't agree.

    He's clearly Wardo but Im sure he wouldn't be defending a European descent American without some African roots for doing the same thing.
