In terms of skill-set, and in-ring approach they're comparable; but Floyd's been more active in this last year and his most recent win is more impressive than SOG's. That's enough for Money to retain his hold on the number one slot. Might be a different story next year, but for now, that's just the way it is.

Ward is not as good as Floyd ? Its easy to look like a genius against faded fighters and novices !!

When Canelo can accumulate a resume similar to Froch's we can then compare ...Right now Froch is a league above Alvarez !!

It's easy to look like a genius against slow, technically poor guys like Froch who holds his arms by his knees. Ward looked **** against Bika. When has Floyd ever looked bad against that caliber of opponent?

I think a better question is Ward over Bradley for P4P #2, Bradley's last three wins are better than all of Wards recent activity. Ward has cleaned up SMW, there talking about a Chavez jr fight thats not going to pass him. Ward can fight a couple rematches, wait for some MW's to move up, or move up himself and see if he can dominate LHW. P4P is a combination of skills as well as resume, Ward himself has said his hardest fight in the pro/am's was Bradley. Bradley's resume is really better than Ward's, Marquez was an ATG coming off the Pac KO, Provodikov in a Fight of the Year candidate, and beating Pacquiao an ATG before Marquez. Regardless of how you feel about the decision Bradley was probably the freshest in prime fighter Pacquiao has fought in years, the man at LWW, and ended up putting up a better fight than CottoTKO12, ClotteyUD, MargaritoTKO11, MosleyUD, DiazTKO5, Morales II/III(KO8/3), HoyaTKO8, HattonKO2..
on top of that his work at JWW sets Bradley above for me, Bradley is a HOFer now Ward isn't Ward might be a bit more skilled but Bradley is also one of the best fighters and has a better resume to back it up.

His resume is not better than Ward's. He lost against Pacman and beat an old slightly overrated Marquez and nearly lost to Prov, Oh and he is certainly not a star himself just like Ward isn't either.

Not saying that I'm 100% in agreement with the OP, but who was the last guy Floyd fought that he wasn't supposed to dominate?

Using Pacquiao himself as an example during his run as #1 he got a broken eardrum vs Cotto, almost folded by a body shot vs Margarito, and technically knocked down vs Mosley yet what was the outcome. Again there are countless closes fights/robberies touted as great wins(tito-ODLH/SSM-ODLH II/JLC-PBF/MP-JMM II&III/PPW-SMM) ect....and officially he holds a win over Pacquiao. The Provodnikov win showed heart/grit a attribute many fighters throughout history are praised for, and Marquez was coming off the biggest KO of probably the next 5 years top 3 WW/P4P. for example if Martinez (40 yrs/top 10 P4P) looks good in Jun then losses to GGG in Nov should GGG not get credit for the win it's the same principles
Unified at JWW , just beat #2*/3 P4P fighters in the world's and both of Pacquiao's next two. opponent choices(Marquez V/Provodnikov) back to back

If Froch had done nothing with his crude style I would agree with you but if you look at his body of work he is very effective ,And tell me again who doesn't look like **** against BIKA ? Floyd also doesn't fight that caliber of opponent ..Who has fought in their prime that could even come close to testing him ? Not since he was at 130 Thats how you prove your the best fighting guys at their best !Ward has proven that not Floyd as of late ..

He hasn't done that much. He's beat some average to good fighters, china chin frauds & shot fighters and lost to the good fighters he's fought.

A p4p #1 wouldn't look like **** against Bika. Floyd toys with guys like that. c'mon

What caliber? Bika and Froch? :rofl

He's s much better than anyone his size that nobody is able to test him.

You prove you're the best by becoming the best in your division then moving up and becoming the best in the next division. If Floyd had stayed in one division (like Ward) and not moved up he would look even more dominant than he already does.

I don't think Floyd would have toyed with Bike the guy is just an ugly style for anyone ,look at his fight with Joe C..He makes it ugly in there no matter who it is ..

And Froch is more proven than Alvarez thats for sure ..

And Floyd is only better than the guys he's fighting because anyone who could have posed a threat were all on the decline ..ironic he retires when certain guys were still viable only to come back a year later when they have either left the sport or had taking a few steps backwards ..

And if floyd had stayed in one division he would have been forced to face much better fighters but instead he carefully moved up in weight hand picking opponent after opponent..

Come on then who are all these fighters he would have had to fight if he hadn't moved up in weight to fight guys with a natural size advantage? Who was such a threat when he retired?

Ironic that Ward didn't fight Bute when he looked a threat. Ironic he never had to fight Dirrell in the tournament. Ironic he doesn't seem interested in moving up in weight to fight certain viable guys.
