Andre Ward is retiring because HBO did not want to give him a new contract

and other networks didn't want him boring fighter

 

I'm pretty sure his purses/earning ratio has been a big issue for Roc Nation and HBO alike.
Certainly Roc is hemorrhaging money on the Cotto, Ward and Rigo contracts, and would thank the boxing gods they dodged the Broner bullet because he was tied up by The Haymon and/or profoundly stupid.

If it's the main reason or even actually true, we'll probably never know. But it always seemed like Ward would rather be anywhere else as in a boxing ring after the S6 ended.

 

Stop hating. During the short stint he actually managed to push Roc Nation Sports to top 50 Forbes company lol.

 

SOB tried to fight a wino on HBO, but HBO refused to show such a fight. HBO lost money on that cheating piece of fecal matter...............Kovalev is an exciting fighter, he had to go out and beat other champions to win those belts, only to have them stolen by corrupt judges, and in the rematch a corrupt referee. Three low blows to the testicles and he was not called out on it, Max Kellerman while interviewing SOB said well those were kind of border low blows, no, they were clearly low, watch the video and the still pictures! SOB cheated. A rematch should be called for Moscow, with Russian judges, referee and boxing commission to make up for the hatred and bias against an Eastern European fighter who actually fought for and earned his titles, one over seas in Cleverly's home town! SOB would never fight away from home! Never! SOB, or better SOS, Son of Satan..................son of judges, son of referee, boxing commission, etc. A Christian does not cheat, not a real Christian, Christian in name only, just like Trump and his fellow crooks who want to take away healthcare from 32 million people.......................give that money to the koch Bros., a crook is a crook, a cheat is a cheat!

He probably understand his body better than anyone else. I think the 2 Kovalevs fights also took a lot out of him mentally.
The jump to cruiser and heavyweight to me is just crazy thought. He relies too much on physicality to be able to compete with the youngster above.

 

You have to admit, fans wanted to see Kovalev fight, but they never did want to see SOB fight, all he did was wrestle, run, elbow, headbutt, low blows and he always got away with it because he always fought in his own venue he owned everyone................................................Kovalev was an exciting fighter, SOB was boring as hell, he got his dirty arse beaten in the first fight, knocked down, etc., but cheated. in the rematch three low blows to the testicles called a TKO by Ward's personal corrupt referee Tony Weeks. Low blows are illegal in boxing in case some do not know it...............

 

He wasted his best years with that contract dispute.

 

Probably true as it's no secret the networks don't wanna show his fights as his style is just not fan friendly enough,shame as Ward has the boxing skills to light up the ring but he found a way in big fights with ref,judges onside to win by stinking the joint out,I'd be amazed if even the hardest Ward fans could argue with this.
Who here ever wants to re visit any Ward matches?

 

Um, every one of Wards fights were televised. How many fighters have similar bragging rights?

 

For sure inc his last contract for three tune ups where he actually boxed beautifully and the two Kovalev fights,word was though that neither networks wanted do commit to anything,could be wrong on this though I believe Carl Froch said it best re Ward when he said who ever wants to go a rewatch an Andre Ward fight and Larry Marchent said after Kovalev 1 that he doesn't need to see the rematch as it would just take off where it left off and that his style is just not fan friendly and it's the sole reason he's never had the following Floyd had.
Wards big fight style was one of jab,grab,hold n wrestle in the knowledge he would get points for it,we just seen an awesome fight last week but just imagine if GGG or Canelo stunk the place out by wrestling and yet Ward gets a pass for it,quite simply he'll go down as a true great but boxing won't miss him and myself I'm glad he's commenting on boxing as he's good at it.

 

How does Ward get a pass on anything? He gets **** on 24/7, especially on ESB.
Kovalev I and II, Froch, Dawson, Barrera and Rodriguez were all good fights.

It's logical. He has made X amount in the recent past and thus expects X+.

If fans want to watch him lose or not even care enough for that, he can't do anything about it. Networks will come to the table offering X- and it wouldn't be worth it for him.
