What I'm saying is, Ward would have to bring a significant portion of his own fans to fill Wembley (as Groves did), and Ward does what, attendance of 4K in his home town. No chance it does 80,000 at absolute tops half that

 

He wasn't really for the first fight (although people knew of him from the DeGale fight) so above where Ward is now in terms of how many casuals are aware of him. But Froch was big, however no way would the 1st fight have sold out Wembley just based on Froch alone.

 

Yeah, but Smith was decently game, didn't fold like a cheap tent. He was there to fight and was just massively outclassed.

Corner had to pull him, but it was a really good decision by them.

Wasn't going to get better and his face was like pizza.

 

Buzzed once in the 6th or 7th. It was a pretty good shot but Andre looked phenomenal. Jab looks as good as usual and his combinations tonight were magnificent.

Hopes he fights DeGale or Jack/Groves winner next.

 

Ward didn't even have to use his defensive clinching and spoiling for this fight and still dominated in all facets.

 

Don't think Golovkin will move to 68 any time soon.

He claims that Ward brings 0 money, has always said this and I'm pretty sure he wants to fight the winner of the Cotto/Canelo fight anyways.

Just wish they would stop bringing up each others' names for promoting their next fights.

GGG wants the money fights and I'm sure Ward does as well.

I'm pretty sure Ward will gun for a fight in the UK maybe with Chunky or Froch (If he's not retired), or go to 75 and fight Stevenson/Kovalev.

That's probably a better path than GGG atm.

 

Problem is - and always has been - Ward wants everyone to come to him. Either fight him in his backyard or in his weight division. He's not prepared to go the extra mile to get the big fights, he's not prepared to chase the big names and give up homefield or weight advantage to get them.

This severly handicaps him when it comes to making "superfights".

He's a great fighter without any doubt, but I do question his ambition.
