I just wonder if a referee(cortez type) who is not going to allow as much infighting(mayweather vs hatton) and will actually warn or penalize a ward headbutt, intentional or not in a fight outside of oakland and how Ward will cope remains to be seen before making him a top 3 p4p fighter.

A ridiculously bold statement at the moment. If he wins the super 6, or at least reaches the final, then maybe we can discuss this. Off the back off the Green fight? **** no!

well, give Ward another year or two, and he'll obviously be the most technical fighter...
he needs to brush up on some bad habits. One is his jumping in left hook that is usually very wide.... he can get caught VERY EASILY doing that, and i cringe each time he does that. And he usually overshoots the opponent doing that anyways, and unable to chain an attack with it....

He needs to not be so safe and commit more into his punches also... the few fights he said he should have finished off his opponent will happen if he dares to drop in more power into some of his key punches...

Jermain Taylor - just a good all around fighter, thats all
Ivan Calderon - fast boxer, zero KO power
Nonito Donaire - very good hybrid fighter, not quite a technician though. And just cuz you got a KO on a sloppy Vic Darchinyan doesnt make you a superstar... yet
Paulie Malignaggi - didnt he just get outboxed by Amir Khan lol? fast but often off-balanced

Floyd Mayweather - Technically, he's the best at WHAT he does. Which isnt really much, but it more than compensates what he doesnt do. He's a master technician in countering with his left hook or right lead. He's a master at beating his opponent to the punch with one punch - left jab, left hook, right lead. He's got great footwork when the heat's too much, can do an outstanding rope-a-dope, better than Muhammed Ali (this is a compliment). Other than that, thats ALL he does. Is this enough to be considered as the best all-around technician?

Well, if a fighter demonstrates immense technical capacity in a fight against a decent, albeit not great, opponent, why should that count against him? Unless there are specific aspects of technicianship that you think needs a better opponent to demonstrate - but what are they? Mayweather was rated #2 P4P in 1999 without having beaten anybody of particular note because of the skills he showed in dismantling inferior opposition. And I'm not sure there's anybody else in contention for the top p4p spots that's particularly more proven than Ward, obviously outside Pacweather.

I know how you feel bro I ranked Ward #3 on my p4p list after he beat KEssler, that's how impressed i am with this kid. I was impressed even before he beat Kessler but I didn't think he had matured yet as a pro. He proved me wrong.

People here are just in support of a fighter they see ability and promise in.

If some people want to give him 2 years before they agree...then do your thing..

He gets the job done. great fighter

Yes I do you know-nothing blithering idiot. Technical means a fighter is sound in the basic fundamentals of boxing and can execuete them on a world class level with elite precision. Andre Ward's style is no where near that "technical" and prety. His style is highly unorthodox and a technical fighter is nothing but orthodox you ******edly slow gimp.

THIS is a technical style, **** for brains.
