I wouldnt call his modified european style conducive to anything too technical, defensively or offensively. He doesnt even have a guard, and his left hand hangs down past his waist. He definitely is a slick puncher though... he's there to get hit with such an open or non-existent guard, and he does get hit.

Yay. Found one of these Headbutt Conspiracy Theorists! Yes, he defeated Kessler due to headbutts and with no point deductions. Im not fond of european fighters that whine and fault "cheap tactics" that led to a sound defeat. Ward is not a Puncher by no means, but he does have 13KO's of 22 fights - thats really not to bad for a "boxer". He does have average punching power.

Andre Ward is the goods. He did win the gold medal after all. He's been taking his time in building his pro career and this super six tournament is going to serve as his showcase.

 

I just saw his first pro fight today on the undercard of the Tarver/Johnson I fight I have. He was good even then but seemed a little too anxious to get his man out of there and he also pawed which he still does. I don't know why he paws because his jab isn't half bad.

 

The more I do an analysis on the kid (focusing on skills, intelligence, and atheletcism) the more I think the hype might be true.We'll see LOL.

Anyway, ANYONE who claims that Ward can KO or even TKO Calzaghe must've been born this year. No one that Ward has ever fought has what Calzaghe ever brought in the ring.

Styles makes fights. Calzaghe is not as slow as Kessler, he is also someone who can adapt, infight, and butt heads and commit fouls if you try to foulfest with him.
