With all the controversy connected with GG and Canelo, I just started to remember Ward and his 2 fights vs Kovalev.
I watched the two fights today again, in both of those Kovalev was kicking his ass, first one he clearly won but got robbed, 2nd one there was 6 or 7 low blows, 3 or 4 being powerful low blows which made Kovalev vunerable for obvious reasons, I still have Ward in top 10 P4P he is somewhere between 8-10 in that ranking but half the population ranks him the undisputed number 1 P4P, I have no idea why.
People call him a genius and a master in boxing yet he got his ass whopped twice, being controlled by Kovas jab all night in both fights.
THE most protected and overrated boxer ever, great boxer but nowhere close to being in conversation for top 20 of the last decade.

Hes a media creation, a hype job. Protected, allowed to low blow, unfair judging etc etc.

Disagree completely. From the super six to now, there's little doubt Ward is proven. I think many of his best years were wasted due to his legal issues which is a shame, but he's beaten the best available opposition during his career. He deserves the position he's in

Hes a great fighter but not p4p number 1 lets be honest. Some people make him out to be a future hall of fame, I personally disagree. That's why corruption in boxing doesn't matter, most people forgot about the disgraceful fights vs Kovalev and all they see is 2 Ward victories when it truth it was completely different.

Skill-set, I have absolutely no idea how people can have Ward as P4P number 1. He's not that good.

His resume is tainted as well.
    Old Kessler and a headbutt.
Froch(Not a great scalp really, he already lost to Kessler, got gifted a decision vs Direll and almost lost to JT)
    Drained Dawson!
    Paul Smith!?! wtf

1st Kovalev fight he lost in the majority of people's eyes. I had it a draw.
2nd Kov fight, ends with low blows.

That's his resume. GGG has a better resume than Ward.

    Jacobs > Old Kessler
    Brook > Drained Dawson
    Canelo > Froch

I'm not doing < or > with the Kovalev fights because both were dodgy as ****.

Andre Ward is a pretty good fighter. He is not as good as Kovalev was during either of their meetings.

He got out boxed against Kovalev from the outside in the first match, so he had to resort to things like closing space and clinching.

In the second fight, he resorted to low blows.

When your "master tactic" is bending and breaking the rules, you are not a master boxer. Mayweather NEVER had to rely on illegal tactics.

Ward is truly a man with no SHAME. He is a DISGUSTING human being.

I've said it once and I'll say it again... If Kovalev wasn't wearing boxing trunks during either of their fights, Ward would have been more than happy to suck him off rather than exert energy throwing bodyshots/lowblows to wear him down. Guy has no honor. None. He will stoop down to any level (LITERALLY LOL) to win.

One or two....Crawford, Loma, GGG, Rig round out the top 5 in my opinion. I think Ward's dominant performance in his rematch with Kovalev was a better win, against a better opponent than any of the other boxers I listed. Crawford and Loma have been really dominant but their opposition isn't on the level of Kovalev or Alvarez. It's a tough call as to who is deserving of the #1 spot. I know for a fact Ward is in the Hall....no question about it. Gatti got into the hall of fame and Wards career is a lot better overall and he's not done yet

No 1 spot, either Crawford or Golovkin. Dominant performance? He won because before he hit him with that big shot, Ward smashed Kova with a low blow, he is a dirty fighter who deserves no respect, a great fighter who resorts to dirty tactics when he knows chances of winning are slim

    My top 5 is
GGG(Almost a decade of dominance and still going strong)
Bud(My future P4P number 1 when GGG retires just on skillset alone. This is a complete boxer)
    Rigo(Best active defensive boxer today)
    Loma(Best active offensive boxer today)
RG(1 weight class to far dosen't make him ****, well it does if he can't get back to his previous ways)

It was a little low, but you have to consider that Kov over reacted....which meant Ward had mentally gotten to Kov before that. It's boxing...low blows happen and Kov wore his frustrations on his sleeve, leaving him vulnerable inside the ring. That is part of the game. Boxing is also a mental sport and Ward was able to win that battle which affected Kovalev's performance. I don't think Ward is a dirty fighter. I think he's crafty. I think Tyson was dirty, Bhop was dirty....Holyfield. Ward doesn't do things intentionally but if he happens to foul and and the ref doesn't reprimand him, he will go on about his business. I like the fact Ward is all business inside the ring. I'm not even a huge fan of his particular style. I just think his mentality as a fighter makes him exceptional. He's not ultra fast, he doesn't have insane reflexes or ridiculous power....he's just a fighter with a winners mentality

I'm not reading that pro-Ward propaganda, I seen it all after the low blows in my sig. Yeah, that's not dirty, its just crafty!?!?!
    TLDR
