As far as what Ward just said - that fits exactly what I have been saying for a while. Did I not say Ward wanted 50/50 for 168 and his terms, and K2 said F-that? Ward himself confirmed my read on the situation. Now is trying to build the fight, we are looking at pretty standard pre-fight negotiation/publicity. I said back almost a year ago that Prince and Loeffler both thought GGG-Ward should be the next big PPV rivalry once they figured out how to sell it and everything to date supports that supposition.

The actual timing will come down to various outside factors, such as what C/C does, the GGG PPV numbers, the dates HBO thinks are good for PPV and such. But expect to see GGG-Ward sometime in 2016 on PPV, likely before GGG-Canelo presuming Canelo wins.. expect GGG-Ward May 5th of 2016 if Cotto wins, presuming Floyd stays retired.

 

Of course he is the A side and nobody with even an ounce of sense can deny it. He is fighting on a major network, gets good numbers and has his first PPV lined up.

Ward right now is fighting on a third rate channel where he does worse numbers and has nothing lined up at all.

As long as Ward carries on to use Winky Wright negotiation tactics he will not get any boxer with a name in the ring with him. It is prize fighting and no fighter with a name will take a big risk fight for peanuts while he still has alternatives.

What he should do is to cut his demands off to increase the purse of his opponents. He will get mid tier fighters to fight him, if he does that 3 or 4 times and looks good people will start to talk about him again and the demand for him will increase again.

 

Golovkin has title unifications with Lemieux, winner of Cotto/Alvarez, Andy Lee, all much bigger fights than SOB Ward, however, Duva has been trying to get Ward to fight Kovalev, but Ward said that Kovalev was too big for him, Ward wants Golovkin to come up 9 lbs. from his fighting weight at 159, yet Ward won't come up 2 or 3 lbs. to fight Stevenson or Kovalev?! 175 is Ward's natural weight, but Stevenson said he would come down to 168 to fight Ward if needed..............no big money names at 168...................Golovkin would have to be a fool to give up those big money fights and go up 9 lbs. to fight Ward in Ward's home town, with Ward's personal referee, judges, boxing commission, etc., let Ward fight his own big fights..................Golovkin has better fights, he wants to become the unified 160 lb. title holder. Golovkin always comes in to a fight at 159, Ward would weigh 180 plus, perhaps 190 and is still afraid of Stevenson and Kovalev............

If you want GGG, go to his weightclass and earn your shot, because no one wants to see boring Andre Ward vs GGG!!

 

Canelo and Cotto would have to come 4 pounds up. GGG would have to come 9 pounds up against a guy who hasn´t fought 168 in over three years.

And if we add his reluctance to reveal his fight night weight, we can just assume he is seeking at least 15 pounds weight advantage to beat GGG. Sounds pretty hopeless.

I wouldn't be surprised to hear a 172 catchweight being offered to GGG, Ward needs to go speak to DeGale instead of fighting the likes of Paul Smith and trying to get middleweights to move up.

If Ward still wants to fight at SMW then DeGale is without doubt the best SMW would could fight.

Ward wanted Groves, we saw on Saturday why, he wanted Paul Smith, now he wants a f***ing MW.

Ward has to either fight DeGale or move up and fight Kovalev, he is 31 years old and doing nothing and hasn't done for 4 years. Ward is a man who lives of the super 6 that finished 4 years ago.

He shouldnt be rated in the P4P list, he hasn't defended his world title in over 2 years, the praise he get today is unwarranted.

 

To put the milking of the Super Six and Dawson in perspective time-wise, it would be the same as if GGG were legitimately using Lajuan Simon and Proksa as any kind of bargaining chip today and moving forward.
