Sadly this about sums it up. He's not an ******* like Mayweather for the wwf fans, not a slugger for the casual fans, and not pretty enough for the gays.
Despite having polar opposite comparisons, that's a pretty good comparison. I don't think Ward is as dirty a fighter though, plus he's got the Gold medal and is still unbeaten. But it's true that his style won't do much for the casual fan.
His style is not fan friendly and he is not controversial enough. The templates that he can follow is that of DLH, Pac or Floyd.
His figghts are so ugly. You cannot be a superstar with such a poor performance. Besides, fighting only in his backyard.
If you cant even excite your home crowd, its not likely..You could hear a pin drop last night! And the hallelujah stuff dosent help outside the US.
Ward has neither the personality nor the style to become a "superstar." His religious hypocrisy is a huge turn off. His style is boring as hell. His dirty tactics will always prevent boxing purists from giving him any respect. He'll never be a big draw outside the Oakland area. And, more importantly, he isn't anywhere near as good as his supporters claim he is.
