    I would assume he is of Irish descent seeing as Ward is an Irish name..ya know?

    Quite ironic coming from a Brit, when you talk of great British champions ive often seen Barry McGuigan included on lists !!!

    Andre "Frog" Ward. Hope he has a homecoming fight in Ireland at some stage.

    He does have Irish ancestry by all accounts, although I'm not sure how far back it goes. Max Banjo, from the Lounge, told him in Vegas how posters on ESB had taken to calling him "Irish" Andre Ward. He found it funny and acknowledged his Irish background.

    Although I agree with whomever said he identifies with black culture... He's no Mickey Ward-type character.

    well obviously his dad was a hw pro boxer, he didnt get his toughness from his mothers sweeping the floor routine

    What about Irish Australians? Les Darcy is the greatest Irish fighter of all time. Also Ned Kelly great bareknuckle champion.
