In an interview with the Ring, which can be read here: http://ringtv.craveonline.com/blog/181795-ward-on-hopkins-and-boogey-men-golovkin-kovalev-stevenson

Ward basically says he's no interest in the foreseeable future in fighting Bernard Hopkins, Gennady Golovkin, Adonis Stevenson and Sergey Kovalev.

Ward on Hopkins: "I'm more interested in guys within my legacy, and, basically, within my era. The young guys, and the guys that are coming up"

So, he means like GGG, Stevenson and Kovalev right? Wrong.

On the trio Ward said: "I don't see a win over either one of those guys right now catapulting me past the Floyd Mayweathers or something like that"

Because obviously a win over Edwin Rodriguez is going to do that is it Ward?

But should he beat E-Rod, it begs the question- who does he want to fight "to get him past the Floyd Mayweathers", being that he's also not interested in coming to the UK to rematch the Cobra?

The floor is yours BN24 :think

Wards a clown, GGG is a better boxer, has a CHUVALO CHIN and hits hard a bricks.
Wards a REALLY GOOD BOXER, has a fragle chin.

Regardless of what he says, it's what he does that matters.

So far he has gone through a gauntlet for the past 4 years now.

Also HBO plays a big role here. He wanted Caleb Truax for his comeback fight and was forced to fight the better Edwin so if he thinks that he'll be fighting DeGale and Stieglitz my guess is that he's wrong.

He'd totally dominate Stevenson- that I am sure of.

GGG and Kovalev would give Ward much more trouble but I see Ward winning an ugly verdict, similar to the Froch fight.

Lol, so he's not going to fight anyone? Not fighting these guys is definitely not going to catapult him past Floyd Jr. To get past Floyd the least he has to do is be the best in more than one division.

Ward close-ish UD
Ward close-ish UD
Kovalev UD

This is assuming the fights with Adonis and Kovalev are at LHW...

Froch fight an ugly verdict?

He won a solid 9 rounds by everyones count.

The worst thing Ward can do is jump up a weight class just to get a fight. He's P4P #2, he doesn't need to chase anyone. People need to chase him. So I think that's where he's coming from when talking about the 175 lb fighters. And I completely agree with him. He'll move up when he can't make 168 anymore naturally. Then he'll fight the best at 175.

No it was a fight of the decade candidate. How foolish of me.

If Froch beats Groves and looks good, I would like to see Ward come to the UK to fight Froch. Primarily because I'd love to see Carl get a shot at redemption on his own soil, and also because I think it'd do Andre good to get out of the US. For the record, I think Ward always beats Froch. If Froch gets beat, or looks faded or whatever, then that obviously wouldn't be so appealing.

As for GGG, I'd like him to clean up middleweight before moving up really, and a Martinez fight surely cannot be that far away now. Kovalev and Stevenson will probably meet at some point next year and the winner would be an obvious choice for Ward should he move up in weight, though the loser would still be a decent test.

I guess in an ideal world, Froch beats Groves, then Ward beats Froch in the UK - stamps his authority on the SM division once again. Golovkin beats Martinez, then Ward and GGG meet at super middle. Should Ward win that, the only thing left for him would be to move up, unless another star emerges in the SM division in the time being.

Don't jump all over the guy, he's just admitted he meant ugly fight, nothing to do with the verdict.

And I would say the same for GGG. He's the man at 160. He shouldn't move up just to chase a fight and possibly derail his career. He should clean out 160 and move up when he can't make 160 anymore. Moving up to fight Ward would be an utterly foolish move. He would get schooled and his stock would plummet.
