I dont get where ward's coming from with that statement. he said bute needed to prove himself against a top competitor, and he's doing just that by fighting the guy ward beat to win the super six tournament. Ward doesn't usually contradict himself so i think he's just thrown for a loop concerning the two fight deal bute has with froch.

 

frankly, i'm thrown for a loop too. why would bute sign a two fight deal if he's interested in being a unified champ? especially when ward has all the other belts? maybe it's just insurance in case of a robbery, but if that's the case, with boxing these days, everyone should be signing a two fight deal. robberies are entirely too prevalent. on another note, I totally understand why it makes sense for froch. he's on the outside looking in and he'll have two shots at the guy most consider to be the second best sm. two shots at a belt, getting himself back into the picture, and two shots at serious cash.

 

Bute gave up some real cash and made Froch a favor by accepting to fight in Nottingham and so Froch was nice guy and accepted the two fight deal (moreover, like you said, he gets an extra chance at getting a boatload of money). Now in all honesty, Bute needs to travel, he's at a stage where fighting at home doesn't cut it anymore and he knows it.
I see this as a deal between Froch and Bute, I don't know why Ward is such a crybaby over the double fight aspect. He had the chance to fight Bute but chose to wait a little more to build up the fight; he should be patient and be the nice guy people say he is.

 

I agree. maybe ward doesn't want to wait as long as he'll have to, though.
