“I don’t have a definite answer, but I can see Canelo stopping him, man,” Ward said. “But the only question is how is he gonna get through the reach consistently enough? And then, if he goes up to [175], how much weight is he gonna put on? Is he gonna try to bulk [up]? Is that gonna slow him down? Is he gonna be a target now? I’ve got more questions than answers right now, so I don’t know. … I can see him stopping Kovalev. If he can get inside and stay inside, it’s gonna be a problem.”
How man, Yard can bang for a human bein/boxer... and he caught Kovalev flush with three piece suite combinations and couldn't get it done... don't see canelo generating that same power or delivering it as easily.
Kovalev was basically saved by the bell, and although Yarde does hit harder than Canelo he's got less skills and speed, and Canelo targets the body more. So I wouldn't be surprised if Canelo got the stoppage. But I also think Kovalev was more motivated against Yarde because he didn't want to lose in front of all his fans and he still wants that Canelo payday; once he gets it I'm not sure he'll be motivated to keep going when it gets tough against Canelo in Vegas.
Yep lesson learned, problem was they did it too late... Tunde was shouting "Bady, Bady, Bady" by around the 7th.
I'm very interested to see Canelo fight at 175 lol. This might be a horrible idea. Fighting Kovalev is something guys do at the tail end of their career.
I can see it happening maybe But I just think kovalevs piercing jab is gonna be rocking canelos head back to much for canelo to have any success coming in But we will see
canelo barerly hurts his fellow middle weights. now every one suddenly thinks he can stop a man who regularly fights men who out weigh canelo by almost 20 pounds and punch harder than him?
I'll say this to the day I keel over, but Andre Ward has a terrible eye for watching and commenting on boxing. Droopy eyes is biased to the extreme.
