There's absolutely no chance Ward fights Barrera. None. Zero. I have no idea why anyone expected this fight to happen.

For starters, Barrera is the definition of high risk/low reward at 175lbs. No one in their right minds would fight him unless they absolutely have to.

Moreover, Barrera is Kovalev's mando. He's one of the very few people who actually has a shot at beating Kovalev. Ward can get Kovalev out of his way simply by ducking Barrera.

I can't imagine a single reason neither financially nor politically why Ward would fight Barrera. I mean by comparison, Canelo taking the GGG fight right away at 160 would be more likely.

So don't wait for it, don't speculate on it, it's just a waste of time.

I think theyd much rather get barrera in with what might be a rusty ward....and then if ward wins send kovalev in there with him....rather than eliminate one of their own guys with only once chance at beating ward

 

Yeah sure, if Ward were to take the fight, Duva and Barrera would be nothing but glad.

The fight won't happen. You can count on it.

 

All ribbing aside, I actually think we'll see Ward-Barrera get made, and I'll give props to them for getting the fight done. I'll give the benefit of the doubt here.

lol we're only talking mate. You don't need to turn everything into dog racing. I simply don't think Ward vs Barrera will happen, no chance. If it does happen, I'll give full credit to Ward for taking the fight. I just find it extremely unlikely no matter what Virgil Hunter says.
