He says he's very frustrated with the politics and the business side of boxing, also talks a great deal about being a commentator, how he likes Jim & Max, making easy money calling fights just like his idol Roy Jones did/does, etc. It just sounds like he'd be pretty happy walking away now "after 20 years", at "the peak of his earning power". :conf ...and people say Joe retired early. :stir http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EPx4YvRAw6A
I hope not still plenty of good fights for Ward to take. He shouldn't even think about retirement until 34 or 35.
He should be motivated for Chavez Jr and Froch/Groves II winner at 168 and/or Adonis and Kovalev at 175.
Did you watch the interview? He seems more annoyed with politics and business tricks than ever before, and it's the first time I hear him talk so much about loving the broadcasting role. He sounded more passionate about broadcasting than he did about getting fights. He makes a big deal of turning 30 soon, with 20 years under his belt. Talks about an upcoming "tough decision" where he must consult his pastor, family and close entourage.
HBO only gave him the broadcasting role to promote his fights. Its very disappointing how Wards career is panning out. Goosen seems to be ruining his career but it shouldn't be that difficult to cut ties with him.
I know, but that was the gameplan. Use Andre's jab to set up his power shots. Edwin was just being nice and considerate missing the target. If people keep being nice to him, Andre can fight another 3-4 big important fights like that. I'm telling you.
Fighters always say they are going to retire at a certain age, or early, so it should be taken with a grain of salt. Oscar was supposed to retire by 30. Hopkins was supposed to retire by 40, and then again at 41 when he beat Tarver. RJJ was supposed to retire before his skills diminished. SRL retired approximately 3,212 times, including a retirement before his pro career began.
if he gets paid well broadcasting, he can run his mouth until he dies that no one could ever have beaten him. funny the guy who won't leave oakland is crying about politics making lining up fights difficult.
He just sounds depressed talking about continuing on, where as his eyes light up when broadcasting is discussed. Hopkins and RJJ never sounded that frustrated talking about retirement. On a different note, I miss your avatar. She was a young, big boobed happy girl. :|
Angie Varona? You can always do a Bing or Google search and enjoy yourself. She's also a complete liar about the whole "I was such a victim" thing.
No idea what no homo is in Russian. :? My Canadian instinct however would teach Putin about Poutine in a meaningful conversation he would remember for the rest of his life.
