Ward doesn't seem to care about cutting weight, and wants to stop achieving anything significant.

With a big champion at light heavy (and extremely beatable) Ward is happy to let Dawson come down in weight. Supposedly Dawson's idea, but IMO it's a **** one, and Ward shouldn't push for it.
    Source: the scene.

He has now gone from one of my favourite active boxers to probably the biggest **** around, although admittedly he's being helped by the boring and basic 'Bad' Chad Dawson. Still, doesn't seem a dick move on the Leonard-Lalonde scale, but not what I, or many others were hoping for, and that was for Ward to move up in weight and dominate the much more prestigious division.

I just hope he fights Bute if he beats Froch and then maybes Dirrell/s to completely clean out the division. Not to bothered about him moving up at this point as their is only really Dawson, Campillo and the Cloud/Pascal winner to fight and they can wait a year or two when hopefully the divison is more stacked.

From the prospects kicking about it looks more likely that the SMW division will be more prosperous though as their are no really decent LHWs kicking about as far as I can think of.

Ward-Dawson would be a horrid spectacle as well. Muchg rather see him fight a come to you guy like Bute or maybe even Pascal.

For me, he can't afford not to fight Bute should Lucian beat Froch. In reality if Bute beats Froch more comprehensively in Carl's backyard then he may turn out to be Ward's Michalczewski.

If Froch wins (big ask) then Ward is the clear no.1 and can either stay at SMW, make money/easy defences and go for longevity a la Hopkins or go up to LHW and take a challenge/chance against Dawson.

Bute should move up as well. They'll all be better for not cutting IMO

Nice posts thus far though, have calmed me down a bit. Dirrell, Bute and Ward should all be at 175 IMO, they all weigh north of that anyway. Pascal isn't massive, Dawson isn't very good, and the division needs some fresh blood.

Super middle has had it's time.

Also, Dariusz beat Hill before Roy did, and Roy stopped him.....I guess Bute would have to waste Froch inside a few rounds to be that guy :yep

No need to calm down Flea. Ward is a prat of the highest order and always has been.
I wished a beating on him since his comments in the Super 6 about how he should always be fighting at home.

Ward has business at 168 first. Dawson should be trying to avenge his loss to Pascal, while Ward goes after Bute.

Assuming both win, then we have a huge fight. HBO would lap it up and give it a large marketing campaign. If Ward beats Bute then he really has no excuse to drain Dawson down to this weight. He should go to 175. Virgil Hunter is very keen on telling people that Ward will be HW Champion one day. Winning a belt at LHW would be a damn good start.

I respect Ward's ability between the ropes, he is clearly a fine fighter (no Manilow) but he bores the tit's off me.

He needs to beat Bute to clear out 168.

I was a massive fan but now i'm more and more not bothered by him, I saw this and shook my head it's pathetic. I mean he seems to want everything to suit him and as i said the other day i'd like to see him fight a young black fighter who's quick so Dawson's not bad but Ward bringing him down sums up his mentality.

He blatantly ducked that fight with the lamest excuse I've heard in years. Yet people say "fair point". Double standards at play with this guy. He had the easiest route through the S6 by far.

I do like him though - he might be a bit entitled and arrogant, but he takes the sport seriously. He should fight Bute, get up to 175, batter the hell out of Dawson, then stake his claim there.

But as Flea says, he won't. He's got Floyd's mentality of gaining advantages over fighters before he even signs the contract.

    A real shame.

Also, does everyone care about 168 if Bute and Ward meet up at 175? I couldn't give two shits about 'clearing out a division' in these kinda' circumstances.

    -Ward moves up, beats Dawson
-Bute beats Froch, solidifies himself as the best 168lber in Ward's absence
-Bute moves up and challenges for the more prestigious title
-Both men closer to their natural weight

I actually think it's better for the fight if it happens at 175, just my opinion though.

I think S.O.G is the worst boxing nickname EVER. Even if I was religious, I'd think it was ****.

I actually love the way he operates, which some people don't. But yeah, massive nobhead. I don't let that get in the way of my appreciation of a fighter, but if he starts making poor career choices, well that's a different thing entirely.

Dawson will fight anyone, I genuinely believe that. He's talked about going to Cruiserweight, and he even said he'd go up to heavy to rematch Adamek at one point, which I do believe he is being honest about. He would move down in weight to fight Ward, which is stupid considering how big he is, but you've got to admire that in a sense IMO.

I'm not surprised at Wards antics in this instance. In fact I'm surprised that some of you are surprised. Superb fighter or not, he's always strived to have every possible advantage in his favour, at times refusing to fight out of Oakland and always manipulating things in his favour. Top fighter yes, but quite cushioned.

HAHAHAHA! Dawson's another cherry-picker. Twice he's avoided mandatories because he just didn't want the fight.

A quick look at his history reveals what an unpleasant cry-baby he is.
