VERY SIMPLE The Ward vs Sullivan Barrera was great. He boxed, period. And won. The Ward vs Kovalev, very ugly, coming in with his head, elbows, excessive clinching and mauling while the ref ignored it all. This is why I sh&t on Ward.
What part of I could write a similar list of gripes about Golovkin and a whole host of other fighters didn't you bother reading? It doesn't change the fact that contender Ward didn't have to travel at all during the S6 whilst established champs in the division all had to. That's not red carpert treatment? He also had a heap of trouble getting the Bute fight done as he for whatever reason didn't seem keen and seemed relieved when both the hugely overhyped Bute and Dirrell before him were removed from his path. Meanwhile dopey Golovkin signed with a promoter that wouldn't even let him enforce his mandatory position on someone else within the stable or even try to make title fights for him. Now that's partly due to his own stupidity so I'd have that on my list for Golovkin. I'm very consistent, its people like you who try to bury one guy and pump up another.
This. It's amazing how nobody seems to want to mention this. Goosen was a good honest man who kickstarted Ward's career and because Ward was greedy, resentment began building up in his heart towards the one person who was genuinely looking out for him and getting him all the advantages in his favour going into his fights earlier in his pro career. Sadly Goosen then gets cancer and you'd think the last thing anyone would want to put a person suffering with a life threatening illness is a long drawn out court case which would no doubt have taken away the last fight and hope that the man had inside of him that could have gone towards battling the disease. I will never respect a man who does that to another human being, it's simply beyond inhumane. Thankfully Kovalev will deliver the overdue karma that is coming Ward's way and I hope Goosen's family will be sitting ringside witnessing it all unfold in front of their eyes.
Most of the talk I hear is about Kovalev deserving to win the decision, but not much talk about how Ward rose from the canvas to win said decision in the eyes of the judges. He showed his heart and he did make major adjustments otherwise he would have been KTFO. Most fighters would have gotten KO'd by Kov after that KD. Ward showed the marks of a true champion, regardless of who you think won the fight.
They had a disagreement regarding business, they settled it through the legal system. It's hardly worth mentioning, that's why nobody seems to mention it.
i simply bury the guy that gets excuses made left and right....and pump the guy who has gotten things done....nothing more or less i love how bute and dirrell are always the guys he DIDNT fight....meanwhile bute is a proven to be nothing that would have realistically given ward problems.....and dirrell has been dogged here since 2011 by the same people who dog ward daily...but since ward DIDNT fight these guys they are supposed to be the big ducked challenges...LOL.... you never answered my question though...rarely do you guys ever though...so im used to it would you drive an hour and half each way to work every day...or take the same job for a different company, for equaly pay/growth opportunity/benefits, that was 10 minutes from your house? ward simply asked to fight at home and it was obliged....but you wanna act like he forced these guys? they easily could have left him out of the tourney since they were "established champs" like you said...ward was not even close to the favorite.... ward hasnt had any problems making any real fights.....AND...bute was light work for ward...but ward wanted to see bute prove something and beat someone worth something....bute sat on the sidelines while ward went through the super 6 and won....he wanted to see bute prove his worth, the way he himself did, to get a shot...but bute failed his test
Yes of course it's not worth mentioning, the fact that a man with a debilitating illness not only had his good name dragged through the mud, but also had to go through the stress of a long arduous court battle all so Ward could bleed more money out of him. It doesn't make Wards look the pious devout and immaculate clean cut humble God fearing Christian does it? Goosen would still be alive today had he not ever got involved with that ungrateful dog. Ward unwittingly murdered that man.
Ward gets plenty of credit, other than a handful of folk on here everyone seems to recognise his achievements and general skill.
in ggg's defense, he is a boxer from kazakhstan, that was a big company at the time, i doubt he actually had many offers thrown at him, same way kovalev didnt have a promoter for almost 20 fights, but these guys have blazed a trail that make it easier for others in the future
This is why you're a joke - you ***** and moan about Golovkin getting hypothetical wins given to him by fans yet rule out Bute as any kind of threat with hindsight. Nice one, you've just proved in one stupid sentence why I was right to have you on ignore. I've never dogged Dirrell so again, get your facts straight. I've always rated him and described his career as a waste of potential. It's also there in black and white that Ward was always reluctant to make that fight. Other people stupidly hating Dirrell doesn't change the facts. Now to answer your stupid question - if they pulled out of the big tournament everybody would have labelled them duckers/cowards etc. scared of proving themselves so they stepped up and agreed to travel. They prob didn't mind seeing as how nearly every fighter in the tourney agreed to go on the road too. One guy made a huge deal about leaving Oakland for one fight to travel to AC. Again, that's just a fact. You don't like it then that's your problem.
