Nice low-risk fight for Andre to shake some rust off without a real risk of losing or getting injured. I don't have a problem with it so long as the Kovalev fight comes off as planned.
Who's up for Ward then given Alvarez, Fonfara, Williams, Chilemba, Cleverly, Gvozdyk, Braehmer have dates lined up? Shabranskyy? Marcus Browne?
Why all the crying over this fight :huh Ward has moved up and is clearly committed to facing Krusher after this fight. This is a decent fight for Ward as he is taking some risk IMO. I just pray nothing crazy goes down that will delay these two from getting inside the ring. I don't feel that SOG is scared of Krusher nor is Krusher scared of Ward. :happy
I think Salido has shown some casual fans that you can't judge a fighter by his Win/lost colum. Some of the best fighters have tasted defeat but it's the story behind the loss that builds the man:deal Valid points Pimp:thumbsup
If it happens, which it don't look like, Let's see what numbers Ward Vs Cleverly does, let's see the purses too. Ward isn't box office, a good fighter but not a star. Anyway, Hearn says (my words) Cleverly will probably fight Braehmer because Wards people are dragging their feet.
Haye sold 10k of ticket for his latest circus act, mismatch, joke, whatever you want to call it. Ward hasn't fought in front of that many people in his career has he? Has Ward ever sold that many tickets? Haye in a ridiculous mismatch is a bigger seller than Ward
It was a fine fight for what it was. Some people just like to *****. :crybby Even if I tend to play devil's advocate on Ward more often than not, there's no sense being irrational about it. As long as the Krusher fight comes off, I'll fully buy in to Andre being serious about maxing out his career again and root for the best for him. He can overcome alot of the last couple of years' damage to his career with that one fight. For the record, I don't think Shabranskyy or Cleverly not coming off is because of Roc or Ward. This one's on HBO. What sucks is HBO's budget crisis may cost Andre a decent lead-up fight to Kovalev. First Shabranskyy, now this. I'd really like to see him get some more rounds in to knock some more rust off. What's concerning me is that HBO doesn't seem to be investing in the build-up to maximize what Kovalev-Ward could/should be. Hopefully that's just because they're saving up to pay them more for that exact fight, but it's not something I like to see.
I think Wards just looking to get to 100%. He may have his reasons for fighting Cleverly so why pick him apart when he is fighting Kovalev next? As long as that fight happens who cares. As for Kovalev, Chilemba is a game opponent who for all the reasons previously stated could help Kovalev prepare for Ward. Anyway Alvarez is looking to fight Adonis Stevenson and was told he would get the fight after Chilemba. He wasn't seeking out Kovalev anyway.
