He's hardly fought within the last 4.5 years.

I'd have liked to have seen him fight twice more before fighting Sergey.

 

What, and your opinion can be backed up by anything substantial?

It's pure guesswork to speculate on how much training Brand has had before anymore information comes to light.

If Andre's first choice was someone else, maybe Brand has only recently been notified.

We don't know. But it's stupid to ridicule someone else's opinion when you don't have any facts.

First off.., yes I'll bring up Lil g when people start knocking wards opponent....what's behind this brand fight? Kovalev....what's behind Lil gs bum fights? Second of all...brand was already an opponent choice last year.....so they've already been in contact with his people last year

My statement is a fact: there are 5 weeks left before the fight and he got signed. Your argument that there have been a few weeks prior during which Brand had prior knowledge of the fight is speculation at best. Logically, my reasoning has more merit to it : Brand is 39 so he knows he is coming to lose, and he is a 168 lb fighter that they will drag to 175 so he will not need a full training camp to get in shape and make weight. Both of these facts point to a short notice opponent - Brand isn't exactly a big name that would require weeks of negotiations, I wouldn't be surprised if he got a phone call 2 days ago asking for his agreement. Seeing how the name of the opponent is needed ASAP to properly promote the fight, print the tickets, banners etc, your theory does not hold up to scrutiny.

All in all, I say Brand had 5 weeks + 2 days they gave him to think it over.

Conte is a pro at juicing his clients. Ward doesn't need silly gimmics to pass the PED test with Conte in his corner.

 

Very true. Conte should definitely know. Nah, Ward has his little silly gimmick to pass drug tests. There's a reason why he announces fights late.

Nobody suggested Brand had only found out this morning. But if someone else was in the frame, he may only have found out recently.

this obvious point seems to be lost on the ESB cognoscenti. The most important thing from now until November is that neither Kovalev nor Ward lose.

The stupidity on this board literally takes the breath away. It's staggering. It provokes a perverse kind of awe.

It does doesn't it? Why anyone would want either one of these guys to take on a world beater with a showdown around the corner is beyond me. It makes no sense. You want both of them to have soft touches for their next fight so no upsets occur to ruin the fight.

 

Yeah, we all obviously want to see both guys come out unscathed. But as a fan of Andre's, I want him to have a meaningful fight where he banks some rounds. I'm happy that the fight looks to be signed in November, but I wouldn't have minded waiting until next year. I'd rather Andre fight another 2 fights first.

 

I can understand that but ward feels that he's ready so I'm all for that.
