A fight against a durable, aggressive and fairly tricky guy is a good way to get some rounds in a respectable tune-up against a guy who was initially considered as an opponent for Ward in the past. Ward already put in 12 good rounds against a LH who was rated in the Top 10, so this is acceptable as long as he faces Kovalev next.
Safe fight and bit of shaking off the ring rust before the big dance in November. Anyone expecting anything else were misguided they're not going to endanger the November clash.
Yeah, I'm happy enough with it, but I just wanted 1 more afterwards. But like Pimp says, he must feel as though he only needs this fight. :good
He would have definitely stood a good chance at derailing the match with Kovalev. As far as your earlier question about who he could have picked that would have been safe maybe a guy like Skoglund, Salamov, Mikhalkin or Boesel would have been decent opponents that stood little chance of derailing the big match.
Yep, I have been watching Gvozdyk a bit lately and am really impressed with what I see. Great power, tough, and supremely skilled. Nobody beats him easily. There was some talk of Skoglund, apparently he was on the shortlist of Ward's potential opponents. Guess they couldn't make the fight at short notice and had to fall back on Brand.
Yeah, he's a handful. I still favor Ward very heavily but happen to believe he would do a demo job on Clev 10/10.
Yeah so do I, but I think there'll be a few way closer than they should be rounds, as far as a match against Clev goes, I think he might do a little better than you do, but I doubt it would take Ward very long to figure him out.
