I'll give you that. But he is well travelled around the world from his amateur days. Know this, he walked through a chorus of booos each time on his way to the ring in Athens. I'd say he reacted just fine. If anything, he's only matured since then, and he was well matured then, especially for such a young age. Though he was not faded by the crowd, that experience only helped.

I agree somewhat. Think of all the fighters that thank God not only after, but FOR, each victory. I seriously doubt that God has any rooting interest.

Still, Ward's faith is between him and God. He does have the tattoos and the nickname though. But he has a right, as well as plenty of good reasons, to thank God after his fights. Fighters are lucky to be in tact and in good health after a fight. Some don't live to see the next day. I honestly don't see how a guy's faith in God is a reason to dislike him. Would you like him if he were a Satanist?

If Kessler got the nod in Denmark it would have been perfectly appropriate to call it a hometown robbery.

As for the lack of Ward emulation in sparring, Kessler entrusted a lot of important decisions to the people who'd been with him a long time, just out of naive loyalty. It probably wasn't up to him who he worked with in camp, and this match was a big wake-up call in terms of needing to shake up and reorganize his corner.

That's only part of it. He's also too well-schooled, too athletic, too fast, too strong, too productive...

"Sweetness" literally does not have an edge in any area, tangible or otherwise.

Exactly, and it would be nice if he kept that faith between him and god. He might thank God for his success, but at the end of the day he and other fighters should realize that it is with his OWN hands, not god's, that he built that success. His dedication to training, his natural talent given to him by his parents, and the tutelage of his instructors are what made him what he is. Not just unquantifiable aid given to him by some man-shaped hypothetical flying spaghetti monster.

Ward carries God with him into the ring, but you know who I always thought had the better idea: SRL. He used to bring pics of his wife and kids into every fight. Now that's something worth fighting for.

All very true. In Ward's defense, I think Ward is not only thanking God for his success, but his opportunity for success, as well as his AND his opponent's health.

I've never seen Andre Ward in person nor in a boxing match. I don't know how he acts in real life. Maybe people think that all black boxers act like Mayweather Jr and therefore he should act the same.

No, Ward knows that he did nothing to turn out as talented as he did. His parents didn't give it to him, no more than they gave him his drive to work hard. Both came from God and Ward is a smart enough man to know it.
Just think of all the siblings out there with the same parents, one gets the kind of skill that happens to make a millions dollars in this day and age, and the other doesn't. Ward doesn't know why God chose to give those skills to him, he just gives thanks that He did. We would all do so good to be grateful for our talents that we did nothing to earn, but were just born with, rather than taking pride in them and feeling superior because of them.

Ward;s judges have already filled out their cards for Ward. Ward's own personal referee will protect him. Ward refused to fight in the tournament unless he got "all" his fights in his home town for a reason. Ward knows he can count on his referee. Ward's head butts will help him a lot.

Thats true. And i know his a goldmedallist...And that NOT an easy task to win that!
But you know how judges, referee, crowd ect. also play a part in pro. boxing. Especially if the fight goes the distance...
Im not trying to anything away from Ward,he do what he has to do to win.
But i think when he gets outside USA to fight,he will see things a little bit different.
It just isnt the same thing to fight in you hometown/countrie than away from home...
